Hi,
I d like to update my psp from 3.03 OE-A to 3.40 OE to play the latest games.
I was just wondering that what are the procedures? since I never done it myself before... do I need to delete all the games on the stick before I update?
Where can I get a safe copy of dark alex's 3.40 OE these days?
Any helps would be really appreciated.

There's a readme included in the folder that'll tell you how to do it.
Or our downloads section should have it. The readme will tell you all you need to know about the procedure. Just ask if you need help.
O and no you don't need to delete stuff off your memory stick. Just any files left over from downgrading/upgrading would be useful to delete.

I would suggest backing up your save games before upgrading as the 3.40 save games are different. So i believe you need to convert them if im not mistaken.

Thanks for the replies,
I just downloaded 3.40 OE from our download section, since Dark Alex already removed all of his web contents.
Anyhow the file itself is only 133k !?!??
Do I need the official Sony 3.40 and 1.50 for the update as well? I am very confused.

Just use this winstaller...
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/500493 it will do all the work for you, just connect your psp to pc, run the program then disconnect and run the program from your xmb (under game > memory stick > 3.40 oe-a update). voila, you now how 3.40 oe-a installed.

Hi guys,
I just upgraded to 3.40 OE-A without problems, Thank you so much for everything, you are the best!!
Transformers the game works fine as well,
Just one more question, in the readme it says that I need to change the kernel to 1.50, how can I do that? would it be set to 1.50 as default since I was using 3.03 OE-A before.
How can I delete the updater completely from the memory stick? It still shows up under Game tab. Which file(s) shall I delete?
Thanks again

You dont have to change the kernel but anyways... you can change your kernel settings in recovery mode. Just turn off your psp then when you turn it back on hold the r trigger. you should now be on the recovery screen...the kernel settings are located in configuration.
As for deleting the files, i usually just reformat my memory stick so that it gets rid of all that stuff and creates the new folders for that firmware. But if you want to do it manually... oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker%, 340oeflasher & 340oeflasher%...they will be located in your game150 or game folder

I ran into some problems, the games (olds games and Transformers) stopped working, I kept on getting the following message -
"The game could not be started. (80020321)"
Its strange that Transformers worked straight after the new firmware got installed, and stopped working after I turned the psp back on for the second time.
I could not get to recovery mode by holding the R button on while turning on...
Any helps would be really appreciated.

you have to turn the psp off completely...cant be sleep mode. to turn it off completely you need to hold the power switch up for about 5 seconds (until you see the screen go black and the power light flash)
Anyways, do you still have a game or game demo in your umd tray?

Have it set to use a UMD in the tray, and then keep one in the PSP... game should work then.

Do I need to keep an UMD in the tray all the time?
How come everything worked fine before with 3.03 without the UMD?

Im guessing that your trying to play iso's. You could always change the kernal to 3.40 since I get the error every time the kernal is set wrong. Anytiem I want to play a demo I usually have to change the kernal back to 3.40 from 1.50 for some reason. I dunno know. But you could try changing the kernal.
O and you only need a umd in the drive when you play an iso. Well I mean you can have a higher success rate if you do it that way.
