My associate wants me to put custom firmware on his PSP.

He doesn't know ANYTHING about custom firmware, as I know just about everything. So I can pretty much take advantage of this guy. And in 5 days I'll never see him again.

However, this is the first time I'd be dealing with someone elses PSP.

So, What should I tell him? About risks of downgrading and stuff. (I don't want to discourage him from letting me handle it)

I wont do it for free, (eventhough there is no cost on custom firmware ;]). How much should I charge?

I don't want to actually rip him off, thats just not cool. WHAT DO I DO.

well I know someone in Vancouver doing it for 10.00, so you should probably go for about 5.00

Make him buy you a beer. Or 2, or like d3vils said, buy you food. Just tell him (since you say you know what your doing) that it has about the same chance of bricking as you do when you upgrade to an official firmware. I wouldn't do it for 5 bucks though. That's like 3 bucks here in the us wouldn't it? lol.

If he's a friend I wouldn't charge... kind of a d**k thing to do. Lunch or a beer is fair game though. If you are concerned about what to tell him, just have him read the disclaimers written on all the tutorials. Any time you mess with the flash you run the risk of messing something up. No matter what happens there is a fix for it. Even if the PSP is totally bricked it can be sent away to have a modchip installed, which will allow you to reflash your firmware.

Hes not a friend. Met him in summer school. its almost over.

I was thinkin' more like 20 bucks, because he has no idea what its worth

And i mean this kid IS COMPLETELY CLUELESS. He didn't even know what firmware was. Im going to rip him to shreads. Maybe I'll steal his UMD Drive, as mine is a tad broke.

(i have a video on the main page [title: umd problems])

I honestly don't think it's clever, or funny, or anything. You came on this forum for help... now you may or may not have received the help you needed, but I bet people tried. I, as well as pretty much everyone on this site are here to help people, for free, for the good of the community. What you are doing (or may do) is just being an immature little pr**k and I don't think anyone should condone it. If you wanna charge the kid, go ahead, but do something fair. You take that UMD drive and you've become everything that this community DOESN'T need.

I was just being honest...

I guess when you grow up you reach a certain level of maturity that doesn't find stuff like this funny. Maybe you too will reach that level someday ;)

Yea man that ain't even cool. If I was the kid that your doing that for I would come kick your a**. That's not clever what's so ever. Then again what could you expect from kids now a days. No wonder your in summer school, you don't seem to bright after all. Just charge him 10 bucks man and call it quits. How would you feel if we told you false information and you bricked your own psp?

In my area everyone charges $25 for the downgrade and an additional $5 to get to custom firmware. Some people include a few free games, some dont. Take the money you made from the deal and buy yourself a new psp umd drive, theyre only about $15.
