After its at 1.5 i recommened 3.52 M33 since its the latest and its really tyte since you can have custom xmb!

1.you just cant do that you need to downgrade 1st
2.http://www.pspbrew.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9208 check the tutorial on pandora battery so you can make one with a friends custom firmware/1.50 psp.
if you were on 3.50 you can downgrade but for 3.52 the only way to downgrade is the pandora battery

You need a second psp because your psp cant run homebrew as it is. Homebrew is needed to be able to run the programs that create pandoras battery. So the other psp thats at 1.50 or on custom firmware would be used to create the battery and memory stick because they can already run homebrew.
