So for most emulators there is a 1.5/1.0 version, and a user (3.xx/4.xx) version, and i understand their purposes and how they are different, but what exactly is it about them that would make the user version more desirable?

for example, my slim doesnt have 1.5 support, so i must use either a 1.0 or 3.xx for it to run.
the functions are usually the same, they will just support different firmwares and psp types.

There were a lot of things in 1.50-2.XX that 3.XX & 4.XX don't have.
But honestly, We should be using a 2.XX Kernel, which I believe is the best!

I think roxfox means that 2.0 kernel(s) is/ are better because they offer the functionality of the earlier kernels without the complex encryption issues and things of the later kernels. It's a pretty valid point.

That is exactly what I meant
2.XX Kernel also took a lot of 3.XX Kernel apps flawlessly.
