How much better is the 1.5 firmware?

Okay, so I have been considering purchasing a psp, but I am mainly getting it to use with the ps3 (when is comes out), and to play emulators. I am a huge SNES RPG fan and I was wondering how important it is (or how preferable it may be) to have a 1.5 psp instead of a 2.5 or 2.0.

I was looking into the Ceramic white, Japanese ones that are out now (2.5 firmware, I believe) but am not sure if this will be worth my money...

Any help on with the decision would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I have a decent mac and a weak PC, if this will pull any weight, please let me know.

Thanks

id recommend getting a used one. That way, you can check if its a 1.5. Or you could get a 2.0 and downgrade its firmware to 1.5. Macs require a third party software to run i think. It all depends on the type of pc you have. What OS is it?

ok well 1.5 is the best fw to have because you can do anything with it i.e. play snes, sega and so on and now even play gta, but if u get 2.00 then you can pretty much do the same as 1.5 only u wont b able to play isos(psp games w/out the umd) but u will still b able to downgrade to 1.5 if u wanted to. i wouldnt suggest getting anything higher then a 2.00 because putting homebrew (snes...) is harder and there are less options for it aswell. So basically if u want to have more options with ur homebrew get a 2.00 or lower. Once u get ur psp post again and i will help u out with putting emulators on it. Hope this helps.
