3.02 custom firmware! Thats right folks! Dark Alex's Kernal dumping for 2.80 was a smash hit, but now 3.02 Custom Firmware? No way! Yes way sais Birdman. From what you got from the previous firmwares, spontanious would be the best to say once you have seen these new features:
• Runs 3.02 vsh
• Can run homebrew using 3.02 kernel
• UMD Video region free
• PSP kernel region selector
• O/X button selector
• WMA enabling option
• Flash player enabling option
• Pops (SCE PSONE emulator) - DRM protection hacked (Which means that you can now your game on more than one psp, and share them over the internet)

Heres a good install guide. Many thanks from Dark Alex:
Dark_Alex wrote:Generating the DATA.DXAR:

1. Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME/ if you are using 1.50 firmware and to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are using whatever version of 2.71 Se.
2. Get the 1.50 and 3.02 Update eboots in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "302.PBP".
3. Run oeupdmaker. This program will create a file called DATA.DXAR in the same directory (oeupdmaker).
4. The program will verify that the SHA-1 of the generated file is correct.
5. Once that you have done this, you can save the DATA.DXAR file to skip this step in the future.

Flashing DATA.DXAR:

1. Copy the directories oeflasher and oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME (or /PSP/GAME150 if you are on 2.71 SE)
2. Copy the generated DATA.DXAR from oeupdmaker to oeflasher directory.
3. Run the flasher. If your battery is less than 75%, the program will show the error saying so and will return you to the XMB. This check can be by passed at your own risk by executing the program with triangle and L pressed.
4. The program will continue showing an agreement. Press X to accept and flash the custom firmware, or R to cancel and exit to the XMB.
5. If you accept, the program will flash the custom firmware. Don't shutdown the PSP and don't remove the memory stick.
6. Once finished, shutdown the psp and restart manually to 3.02 OE :)

The design of the homebrew is only in specter hands, but for all you 3.00+ lovers, please I reccomend a good upgrade on this baby. Were gone from the bronze and silver ages, its time to fulfill our new golden ages with OE-A developement! Enjoy!

It doesnt even reformat to the blue screen.
Anyways, to answer you're question, no, you must downgrade to 1.50 first. Can't be done directly from 2.71 SE+

... did you even try it? when you go to system settings it gives you BSoD. After you reset flash1 then it works like a charm, and ir really works! PSX games run!

yeah, you can still run devhook, but there is basically no point to running devhook with this since you are basically turning your PSP into a 3.02 with 1.50 features.

lol and just in case you didn't notice mailas DAX cracked the utility code, which means you can now download a game of the Playstation Network and then share it with others. the PSX emu from sony was never meant to emulate PSX isos lol.

no.... thats exactly what I'm saying it doesn't do, but, it does allow people to buy the game and utility and then share it over the net....

Yes, you once are able to get it off the ps3, but there are sites where you can get them.
Sony wouldnt be so stupid as to put them into PSX isos for compatibility lol.

Would be best for me to downgrade first?

Well, that depends, do you want 1.50 or 3.02 OE-A, you can update from 2.71 SE-C.
Let me sum it up for supashay:
Doesnt matter what you do, if you downgrade, you're at 1.5, takes longer to get to 3.02 OE-A, if you upgrade, just one step shorter.

he wants 3.02 OE-A, god mailas be sure to read previous posts.

you can update from either firmware, the firmware doesn't effect the outcome.
