i just got a PSP and it has firmware 2.81 it is a 1001k system.

perhaps i should specify what i want to do.
i want to run homebrew (namely emulators) on it and if possible upgrade to one of Dark_Alex's custom firmware.

now i did my share of searching and this is what i think i need: GTA:LC unpatched, upgrade to 3.03.

from there i dont know what to do any tips or links to tutorials?

The tutorial thread has all the info you will need.

And you are right. First you need to upgrade to 3.03, then use GTA to downgrade to 1.5.
From there you just need to use the custom firmware installer, also in the tutorials section.

ok so im completly noob and need a lil help.
if someone would like to give me a step-by-step for getting movies on
a 2.81 PLZ help me out. it would be greatly apreciated.

do you want movies or do you want to downgrade your PSP? cause last time i checked you only needed to convert your videos into a format your PSP can recognize (google: psp video) put it on your memory stick and you are ready to go.

Use the SUPER program for converting vidoes.

after the conversion it gives you directions on how to get the movies on your PSP via USB.

SUPER is a great program. Very handy. I've used PSPVideo9 in the past, and it worked quite well. Either works well if you know what to do.
