help with windows

Help please ok my grandmother has this computer she wants to give to me.. but... its got windows me
and when i turn it on there is this splash thing and it just wont load.
It stays like that forever it wont load windows up.

Is there anyone that can help me... please and also she needs it ixed cause shes got some files on it she needs.

well if i were you i would format my harddrive and put windows xp or vista on it

Just pop in a livecd or 98 and get the files onto a floppy, then put 95 or 98SE on it if you can. blackzmage, you know good and well a computer running ME couldn't possibly even run the install wizard for Vista. Maybe 2000 if your lucky, but Vista would kill that comptuer in a matter of seconds XD

ya get a copy of xp and throw it on the hard drive. after that id probably delete the "me"

Ok really....Obviously XP won't run on that computer if it is running ME, and what Mailas said. The most you could upgrade that computer to is 98/2000 if your lucky. DUHHHHHH

Reformat then go to 2000 pro. Cuz i was on Me now i am on 2000 pro. and now that i am updating my computer it can now run vista but i am not going to.
