A few days ago Kojima put up what seemed to be a simple flash teaser, showing only a grassy field under a thick blanket of clouds, with a fence and sparse forest on the right and left. Now that the first countdown has been reached, it looks like a new one is counting down. As well as the clouds are moving much faster and there is lightning and thunder in the background, and a mysterious number or letter 5/S. What caught my attention was that "Raiden" in Japanese means "Thunder and Lightning!" But for right now we will have to wait until we actually find out what it means. But right now it doesn't look like its ending any time soon. Many people have been going through all of the source code of the flash and it looks like the countdown will continue. 5/18 (Today), 5/22 (This timer ends, new one starts), 5/27 (Timer #3), 5/30 (Timer #4), and 6/1 (First Day of E3, also Microsoft Press Conference.) But don't get your hopes up 360 Fan boys, Hideo Kojima himself said there will not be a game / remake of a game for the 360. So right now we are just going to have to wait it out!
Final Fantasy XIII producer thinking about downloadable content?
Square Enix producer Yoshinore Kitase has told VideoGamers.com that Square Enix has "no plan" to release a disc-based demo for Final Fantasy XIII in the States. The demo, bundled with certain copies of the Blu-ray release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, thrust PS3 to the top of the Japanese sales charts, and became the best-selling anime Blu-ray in Japan. While including a demo with the upcoming US release of the movie seems like a no-brainer, Kitase explained that a PS3-exclusive demo would be unfair to the Western audience that's also expecting an Xbox 360 demo. "We are going to carry on with the project alongside the Xbox version, so we really can't just make it available only for the PS3," he explained.
Kitase then noted that the company "would like to check" on the possibility of a downloadable demo. We're certain the logistics behind delivering a 5GB demo to the PSN/XBL masses will be quite difficult to figure out.

VidZone invites music videos to the PS3 this summer
Remember VidZone? You probably don't, seeing as we haven't heard anything about the music video service for the PS3 since it was announced at the Leipzig Game Convention last year. It's not dead, though. The service is ready to go live this summer in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Australia.
VidZone will be a completely free, though ad-supported, way of watching music videos on demand. It will allow you to create playlists of streaming videos either from your PS3 itself or from your PSP via remote play. The service will feature "thousands of music videos and live concert videos, as well as behind the scenes, interviews and making of footage."
There's no word on how often the service will be updated, but we would hope that more content is added on a fairly regular basis. VidZoneis Europe and Australia exclusive, with seemingly no plans to bring it to the US.

This Thursday, May 6, is the release date for the digital release of Patapon 2. It's also the day on which you can show off your lovefor Patapon clothing within Home. They'll be available from the Threads store in the mall, free or not, we don't know yet. Acting as walking billboards is one thing, without having to pay for the pleasure.
Check it out this Thursday on your local PS Home store.

Capcom ready to release dozen+ PS1 and PSP titles on PSN
Capcom is going to make its PlayStation Network presence a lot more robust as it begins releasing ports of PS1 titles and providing downloadable versions of previous PSP titles throughout the year. The company spoke with Capcom's Chris Kramer, who let us know that the company would be listening to what the community wants and figuring out internally what titles to release but don't expect any of them to involve licensing shenanigans along the lines of Marvel vs. Capcom.
"We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title," Kramer said. "We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months."

The ESRB rating site has gone on rating a few more of the upcoming PS1 releases for the PSN Store. Spyro 2 and Spyro: Year Of The Dragon are both listed as being approved for the PlayStation 3 and PSP.
With titles like WipEout, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3, not having been listed for months and, in some cases, over a year, we're not expecting to see these Spyro games soon. If at all. The only thing is that when they rate the games, it sits there and waits. I am not quiet to sure about this one being anytime soon though, but would be a nic addition to the PS games on the PSN.
It is nice to see it being rated though. What do you guys think? Would you like this game to come out any time soon?

All of the rumors about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are true! It was just announced that it will have a competitive and cooperative multiplayer mode. Evan Wells (Co-President of Naughty Dog) said that they have kept this a secret for more than over a year and a half. Evan also said that the Naught Dog crew has been expanding rapidly and they now have a few more dogs.
"If you’ve been looking closely at our interviews, our team here at Naughty Dog has been growing rapidly and we now have quite a few more Dogs on staff than when work finished on UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune. It shouldn’t be a surprise that we had to grow our studio to tackle the task of creating fully-realized multiplayer and co-op modes that would live up to our own high standards and do the UNCHARTED universe justice. I’m incredibly proud at the excellent work our team has done so far and it shows in the solid game play and incredible polish of the little slice we showed press last week. "[1]
The multiplayer beta will begin June 3rd. The way you will gain access to it is through the infamous vouchers, which go on sale May 26th.
Evan also hinted on more things coming to the single player campaign, and to stay tuned.
“We’ll be back soon to talk more about our single player campaign – don’t think for a second we’ve forgotten about that! The rest of our team at Naughty Dog has been hard at work pushing our engine to its limits while creating a campaign that is more expansive and more ambitious than UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune. They’ve even learned a few tricks from our multiplayer and co-op development – truly a win-win situation as all aspects of UNCHARTED 2 are benefiting from the work we’re putting into both single player and multiplayer modes.”[2]

A few weeks ago Hermen Hulst, Managing Director of Guerrilla Games announced on GameTrailers TV that Killzone 2 would be getting a DLC pack. The pack will be entitled Steel and Titanium and would be releashed April 30. The first map in the pack is [1]Wasteland Bullet, and the action will take place on the bullet train that and transports goods and troops between Pyrrhus and the Wasteland. The game is a frenzied firefight to wrestle control of the train from the enemy and into the hands of your faction. With the train moving at full speed, players will need to remain aware of the immediate environment as well as enemies – hitting an overhead obstacle at this speed will mean instant death. The second map, Vekta Cruiser, will find ISA troops boarding a vast ship with the goal to repel a force of assaulting Helghast troops while also protecting the cruiser itself from heavy Helghan fire. The action takes place entirely indoors in a frantic and claustrophobic battle where attackers lurk around every corner.[1] These 2 new maps will contain new gameplay elements and strategic twists. Furthermore the price of the DLC pack was revealed on the offical PlayStation Blog that it would cost $5.99.

Tomorrow will redefine the way people think about survival horror as the honorable Resident Evil franchise welcomes its next chapter. Resident Evil 5 comes out on "Friday the 13th", a release date which wasn't planned out at all... well, ok, maybe a little.
The game will feature a revolutionary Co-op mode where you will have the joy of rampaging with a friend or being ravaged together by the hordes as well as keeping the "over the shoulder" camera style of its popular predecessor, Resident Evil 4, which was a giant success for Capcom.
Resident Evil 5 will be available on the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC.

In a push to make the PlayStation division of Sony profitable they have reviewed the makings of the PS3 to look for optimizations. The newest PlayStation 3 console costs Sony $448.73 to produce rather than the $690.23 it previously cost them.
This of course raises the question, is Sony going to lower the price of the PS3? This seems like it could go either way. In a market like this, it would make sense to minimize losses. But, for Sony may have to make the cut to compete with the Wii and XBox.
I believe it will be the latter because the Playstation division has lost $3.4 BILLION in the last 2 fiscal years. What makes matters worst is that November sales of the PS3 dipped 19%, while the XBox was up 8.6%, while the Wii *more than doubled* its sales. It can be argued that the other consoles are on different playing `fields`, but at the end of the day if your `field` is losing money... move.
