I have searched, I have installed, uninstalled .... copied, dragged .... deleted, so much *caca on installing Wads, CIOS's, and ... omg i'm overwhelmed.

So this is what i've done, tryied and this is what I ask for.

DONE-
-I've successfully installed homebrew channel, and downgraded to 3.2.

TRIED-
-I've tried installing different CIOS's, WADS, installers ... right now I do not know what I have, what did I start with or what i am suppose to have. I have tried to play backup games but I get that DVD error with GAMMA.

ASK FOR-
I've done so much research that I come across new data and old data. I believe I have mixed tutorials (old and new ones), too many discrepancies. I would like to have someone explain to me what is a CIOS, a WAD. What is needed for what I need to accomplish (play backup games) and hopefully, I can put together an official guide. I don't ask for someone to hold my hand and tell me exactly what to do, but educate me or point me in the right direction. I am not completely dumb (engineering degree), but maybe because I work at a nuclear plant, I may have something wring with my head. HAHA.

cios, ios is the wii's firmware, c stands for custom. Its a modified version of wii system software. waninkoko has produced his version that allows different things to be run. His downgrader uses his cios.

wads are the channels on the wii. If you download some wads and you have an installer such as wad manager, then you can install and remove pirated channels.

I would suggest getting the cios uninstaller and make sure thats off your wii. you really only need it for the downgrade. Once that is off you can use wad manager to install/uninstall wads. make sure you keep the copies of the wads though as they are needed for uninstallation.

for backups, need to talk to someone else since i have a chipped wii. hope this helped.

Verification: I understand you said get rid of the CIOS I have installed. Will do that. I was afraid that the CIOS was part of the WII's system software and I didnt want to BRICK my Wii.

I believe that I need the CIOS for playing the backed up games.
If I have more problems Im just going to chip the Wii. Do you have any suggestions Brentbizzle?

Honestly, chipping is the most reliable. Get a good chip depending on what version wii you have, and it's pretty much set and forget. You dont have to worry about region free and updating the stupid loader program. If Nintendo decides to throw a new thing in the mix like it did in the past with Mario Galaxy and the double layer Super Smash bros, you bet the chip companies are going to be on top of the fixes faster than loader support will be.

Back to cIOS, I do believe that having it installed interferes with WAD installation. After Animal Crossing updated my Wii to 3.3, I immediately took the game out and downgraded back to 3.2 with Waninkoko's cIOS. I then tried to install a WAD but it didn't work. I read it has to be removed first so I did and the WAD installed fine. Like I said before I don't know about the loaders, so yeah.
