Ubuntu WII

i think the wii is a worthless system, and needed to be destroyed. hacked its still not fun.

however, surfing through some ubuntu, i found that one of you here (assuming its brent or alex) know how to put a version of ubuntu on the wii. or atleast linux.

i really want to, not that i have enough ubuntu in my life......

Talking to a man who loves the wii starting out your sortof help question like that isn't nice.
for 1 i would never pay £1 for Ubuntu but i would pay £180 for the wii, it may be limited in hardware but it makes up for it.

Anyways, yes their are Linux applications, like GeeXbox, however i do not think you can fully edit your nand and completely edit the file system.

Also Theoreticly its possible to put Ubuntu or any system onto the wii.
But i wouldn't advise editing the Nand like that, just adding. Airplanes has a wii!? woah.

No online play, limited internat capabilities, graphics or internal storage? Didn't think so. However, it isn't made by mac so I don't hate it, just think its boring. I have a 1.5 TB external drive and a 4gb sd card so space isn't a limit. Ubuntu is free, btw and so is every program available for it.

There are so many versions, your head would spin. (There's ubuntu for DS) I'd also like it for PSP and blackberry (duh)

I was gona say, with a bluetooth dongle, and a wii emu u can have basicly what you want on a Pc.
ok cool, but im not sure if like you said, for the PSP isn't done yet.
And no offence but Ubuntu may be fast thats the only way its good, But it fails in every other aspect.

The only way i can see it happening is if you HexEdit your nand which is very Dangerous and i wouldn't advise it.

And considering just putting this down for your information -
Nintendo: Ds sold over 100M on march
Wii: Sold over 50m around march
Xbox360: sold about 25-30m March
PS3: Sold around 10m March (looses out on every console so im not even gona bother, and i believe they still loose out on the new Ps3 but not by much)
Wii, has NEVER needed to edit there consoles, have always made a profit, Sony, i don't need to explain.
Microsoft, Main money is in Computers, should never have gone into games IMO, But what makes me always laugh is PS3 loose out on every console as they have to pay Micro$cam royalts because of certain tech.

Basicly once the "New Wii" comes out, as this wii has done, the other consoles will perish, Also the only way it won't is if they still have the lameass "Family" attitude when i don't know many people who only play with 4 people on there wii.

Sound like ppl dont like to get up and play. dont just sit down all day and play. Wii is fun. i love it. My fav games are on it Zelda Metroid. and plus its like 7 systems in one. i am all for it.

That last part is a total lie, I think you don't really know the open source and therefore GNU/Linux.
I don't understand why if you think Wii is so worthless why do you own one? What I think is you just go with the flow and don't really know neither about videogames nor linux.

its not realy nooby no offence but i know quiet alot of people who dont even know what ubuntu is and they are on computers ALOT.
i didnt know what ubuntu was till about 8 months ago either
