Yeah, solid state drive. Like, I plan to upgrade to SSD but not for another year or so. The prices are way too high right now. The hard drive is easily the slowest part in my computer now so it'd be nice to speed read/ write times up but my hard drive is still anywhere close to "slow".

Western Digital / SATA 3.0 / 7200 RPM = Pretty much the industry standard now, but not slow at all.

It only needs enough memory for the OS. Everything else is hosted on web servers.

It will take a long time before solid states become cheap enough for every day computers to use. The cost to storage ratio is just too off from HDD's.

Chrome OS is really not going to be useful for most users. They are targeting a very specific user... the complete mobile user.

If you think about it, it would be ideal for Middle and Elementary schools. All kids need are a word processor and internet. Linux doesn't have the support that Chrome OS will have. I'm sure it'll be very useful for things like when companies don't want to buy elaborate computers if they're only going to run a few programs. Why would a company need to pay for sound cards if the employees are never going to use them? Ya' know? Why would the company want to pay for all those hard drives when it can buy the OS that'll probably fit on my PSP's 2GB memory stick.

Oh my God... if what I think is true, I encourage NOBODY, I repeat, NOBODY to use the google OS. If your storage consists of web servers that they provide... then that means that more than one person will easily have access to your very-most personal and private documents. That's very f**ked up in my opinion. That is, if that's true. I kind of already view google chrome browser itself as an invasion of privacy because I feel like I'm being watched too much on this browser, but at the same time, that's fine with me (for now).

Because what they're doing should be downright illegal, that's why.

No, you're files may or may not be on removable storage but the programs, like Photoshop, will be hosted on Adobe.com or something.
So, people can't illegally download it.
