Yea... I'm crazy - go figure.

To be honest, I've only been to the dentist once in my life during my sophomore year of high school. I had no cavities, no infections or stained teeth and barely ANY plaque build up. They cleaned just about nothing off of my teeth. The only thing they succeeded in doing was stabbing, literally STABBING my gums with some really f-ing sharp thing... like... that's f-ed up. I have no clue why they did that... THEN, they x-rayed my jaw or something to see if my teeth were coming in good, which they were (and have since). They couldn't believe it was my first time to the dentist in my life because there was nothing wrong with my teeth. As I went to leave, one of the people asked me when they'd see me back to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and I told them that they'd probably never see me again.

So, junior year, with an aching jaw from wisdom teeth coming in, I cut the gums that were stretched over my teeth and used the pliers and tweezers to basically rip my gums out. The pliers did pretty good for numbing my mouth after I squeezed a little. Keep in mind, nothing was necessarily sterile. I used pliers that I use out in the garage a lot, medical scissors that I've used to cut all sorts of things b/c they're sharp, and tweezers from a swiss army knife that I found on the side of the road about half a year prior.

I called it my ghetto home dentistry, but it worked, I have a full set of teeth, and it's actually quite nice chewing with them. I lost my last molar when I was 9 or 10, so I was used to chewing with adult molars for a while, but "wisdom teeth" are so strong and durable... I don't see why anybody would want them taken out. So it sucks for a few weeks. To me, the pain is WELL worth it, but if it's too much to take, man up - find a mirror, turn on a bright light, and operate on yourself.

Of course... I never told you to do so.

Oh snap, I did that when my molars came in DPM, well sort of. My 2 bottom molars hurt kinda bad so when they were pushin my gums up a little I would help open my gums up. That was way back in 5th grade or so I think.

You guys have some seriously crazy teeth problems. I had one little cavity when I was little, that I went ot the dentist for a sec to get it out. That's my teeth story. All my premature teeth just feel out, no pain, nothing. So now I have to go back to the dentist a couple years later, and get my widom teeth taken out so I don't have to go through the pain that everyone else has :p Well at least, not to that extreme.

I pulled out all of my teeth but one, which just ... fell out, idk. Other than that, I don't have "teeth problems" at all, and I'd advise NOBODY to get their wisdom teeth removed unless there are severe complications with them growing in to begin with. Wisdom teeth will help you develop a more full jaw line and help when eating really hard things. When we were babies and our teeth were growing in, they hurt. We, as babies, cried and whined about how bad our teeth hurt. We were then "teething".

I find it pretty sad that as babies, all people teethed and grew in their "baby teeth", yet once we're more mature, and it starts hurting, people are put on powerful medications and we rip the new beneficial teeth out. I look at it as a sort of "growing pain". From my 7th to 8th grade year, I grew over a foot and 3 inches during the SUMMER between school years. It hurt, sure, but I didn't take meds to help stunt my growth. Why someone would rip out the most beneficial teeth in their mouth, I have no idea.

What I did was more severe, but if you just wait about a month, you'd have all of those nice new teeth.

My jaw is only a little sore now, I should get back to eat about anything in a few days. My orthodontist advised to get them removed since it could mess up the order of my teeth. Other than going to the orthodontist every once in a while for my braces, I haven't been to the dentist but 1 time in maybe 6 years.

I firmly believe that most procedures, like getting wisdom teeth taken out, for example, are just to repeat business. Similar procedures may include getting an appendix taken out, tonsils, etc. Sure, there's sometimes very valid reasons for getting those things taken out, but I think that in many cases, there's absolutely no need for them to be removed at all.

My eyes are in great shape. I don't notice me squinting to read something or having trouble adjusting from dark/ light etc. - but if I were to go to the eye doctor.... I'm nearly CERTAIN that they'd try to tell me that I needed prescription eye wear. I'm almost CERTAIN that they would. Why? - because it's business. You're going to a person that sells eye glasses and asking them if you should get them. If they say no, they don't make money.

Just the same, in many cases, they have to rip open your gums and pull out your wisdom teeth. Who's to say that they wouldn't come in naturally if you didn't ALLOW them to come in naturally? If there was a complication, then THAT'S the time to get them removed - not before the fact.

Call me old fashioned," but if it isn't broken - don't fix it". That's the mentality I have, and I'm glad I do. I don't mean to make this a big deal or anything, but I'm very happy that I have my wisdom teeth.

Yea about the eye doctor thing, I'm glad I went. I was horribly near sided. I really wanted glasses just so i could comfortably watch tv while laying on my bed. It was funny, I never had an eye exam before so when I went he asked me to read the line with the whole mirror trick, and I was like what? He was like read the line and all I saw was a big white block. No letters what so ever. Needless to say, I'm blind as a bat.

Well like I said, there's exceptions to what I say, for sure, but I can't help but think that there are just too many service industries that rely on trickery and deception in order to lure customers into purchasing services in which they don't need.

As for AdventWolf's teeth growing sideways... if I look in the mirror, my teeth don't necessarily line up perfectly. Unless my wisdom teeth were going to completely come up under one or more of my other already-existing teeth, I wouldn't ever get my wisdom's removed.

O yea there is definitely exceptions. My neighbors down the street (recently build a it seems almost 3 stories but it's supposed to be 2 story) who live in a nice huge log cabin with a huge fenced off pasture for random horses and their dogs, got all their money from trickign kids into doing something I don't remember. But it involved dentistry work. So then they shut her office down, but you know what she can do know? We live right near the south carolina border and she can go down there and open up her a new office with her "wife" who is a coapracter (sp???). So while she lives comfortably in a huge log cabin mansion type deal kids have wasted millions of money because she said they needed crowns or caps or something that they didn't.
