To be honest, I've only been to the dentist once in my life during my sophomore year of high school. I had no cavities, no infections or stained teeth and barely ANY plaque build up. They cleaned just about nothing off of my teeth. The only thing they succeeded in doing was stabbing, literally STABBING my gums with some really f-ing sharp thing... like... that's f-ed up. I have no clue why they did that... THEN, they x-rayed my jaw or something to see if my teeth were coming in good, which they were (and have since). They couldn't believe it was my first time to the dentist in my life because there was nothing wrong with my teeth. As I went to leave, one of the people asked me when they'd see me back to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and I told them that they'd probably never see me again.
So, junior year, with an aching jaw from wisdom teeth coming in, I cut the gums that were stretched over my teeth and used the pliers and tweezers to basically rip my gums out. The pliers did pretty good for numbing my mouth after I squeezed a little. Keep in mind, nothing was necessarily sterile. I used pliers that I use out in the garage a lot, medical scissors that I've used to cut all sorts of things b/c they're sharp, and tweezers from a swiss army knife that I found on the side of the road about half a year prior.
I called it my ghetto home dentistry, but it worked, I have a full set of teeth, and it's actually quite nice chewing with them. I lost my last molar when I was 9 or 10, so I was used to chewing with adult molars for a while, but "wisdom teeth" are so strong and durable... I don't see why anybody would want them taken out. So it sucks for a few weeks. To me, the pain is WELL worth it, but if it's too much to take, man up - find a mirror, turn on a bright light, and operate on yourself.
Of course... I never told you to do so.
