Just to clarify, 12 is the entire width and not just half of it right?

It's not the religion that causes wars, it's the men who use religion as a means to control people that do.

Edit: this has been proven incorrect since H cannot equal W

Alright if its like you said then im pretty sure it can be solved like this
also this only works if its like I said in my early post

sorry if its a bit hard to read but thats the only way I can solve problems like that.

I think you did good zumiuran but you don't know for sure whether h and w are the same (aka a).

But in order for h=w then the degrees of the larger triangles would have to equal 45. But because the two legs are different that would be impossible so therefore h does not equal w. Nice try though lol.

But the answer is actually x=4. The inside rectangle is directly proportional to the outside rectangle. so

9 3
_ = _
12 4

I wouldn't mind if someone could back me up on that though, I could be completely wrong.

I don't think your right since the third side is always the biggest in a right triangle but I cant say for sure because I don't know what the correct "A" side or "B" side would be but I do believe that it would be bigger. Another thing is that it could be possible to solve it with proportion to find one of the angles to then use with trig to find the third side but I could be wrong about this since I haven't done anything like this for about 2 years

but I do know your right about me being wrong, I didn't even think of that.
I knew something didn't seem right
