Let me get this straight... You hate whenever gays show it off because you think they are rubbing their opinions in your face. You are upset because they are all expressing their views and you want them to keep it private.
Now, you make this thread about your opinion, yet you continue to tell people you don't like the gays' option of living.
Well, that's your opinion. So..... If they need to keep their views private, you should, too.
What makes it funny to me is that if someone doesn't agree with you, you don't want them talking in this thread. Maybe the gays should do that to people who don't agree with them.... You wouldn't want that, would you? You see, by managing the thread the way you are, you actually are using the same tactics that you are preaching against.

I am not upset. I do think this issue is getting more attention that it deserves. I don't think anyone deserves special treatment/attention because of sexual preference. I don't think it is fair to change long standing laws and traditions for a minority of sexual perverts.

That isn't true at all. You came out of nowhere and stated "Great! So, you agree that this thread should be closed." You are the one that doesn't agree and wants no participation in the thread. I stated that if you felt so strongly about it to take it up with the staff or not participate. As far as I can tell you have done neither. Again, I am not preaching against gays but only suggesting they could benefit from a psychological evaluation.

que they aren't perverts! they aren't ill! the whole problem i have with entire thread is you think they are mentally ill rather than just different! they aren't a minority of sexual perverts. they just want their right to be with who they choose in the eyes of the LAW and for their love just like anyone else's to be respected.

Well I do think they are mentally ill but everyone is different in some way or other and since gays turn aside or away from what is generally done or accepted then they are absolutely perverts.

Gays can even be with whomever they want but then there is this issue about the law which is based on thousands of years of tradition. That is really where I take issue more than their interest in the same sex. But I don't want to get into that because we will drift from where I intended to go with this topic.

Gays do not affect your life in any way. Why do you insist on trying to deny them rights or change them? Your life would be the same with or without gays.

NO I don't think they deserve all this attention. They were offered civil unions so that they could have the same rights as "married people" but rejected that stating it wasn't the same. I don't care if they have civil unions or life partners or whatever. They insist to be outside societal norms and yes that is their right but I don't think they have the right to change laws and traditions to suit their needs.

Anyhow none of that is the issue I want to focus on.

My question is why do they want to be gay in the first place but I keep getting dragged into this "right or wrong debate".

They aren't changing anything. They are being discriminated upon and laws are being changed to deny them the rights that they once had. Whenever you do that, of course people are going to try to change the laws! They are going to try to change them back to how they used to be!

And why do they want to be gay? Maybe they don't see the opposite sex as attractive or sexually arousing as their own?
What if there were two heterosexual males who fell in love? That happens all the time. Two of the characters in my favorite show are like that and there was actually an episode about how they wanted to get married but they couldn't. They loved each other just as much as all the other couples in the show... If you think that's right to do to people, then there's something wrong with you.
What if you fell in love with a guy? Sure, it seems crazy, but what if you did. Would you want to get married to him? Why should you not be allowed to love someone you love when people around the nation get married to people they hate? That's not fair.

Laws were clarified such as defining marriage as being between a man and a woman but no laws that I know were changed to take away anyone's rights. Enlighten me if you know of any.

Let's suppose I fell in love with a guy, me personally I would not get "married" because marriage is traditionally between a man and a woman. IF I needed "marriage rights" for whatever reason I would go someplace and get those rights where they are available as a "Civil Union" which is what it is called when same sex couples "marry".
If I needed to prove my union I would carry the appropriate paperwork. Yes it is a hassle but it is the price you pay for going outside the norm and it would have been my choice to go against the grain so like with everything else more effort has to go into it because of that. But one thing I would not do is destroy the fabric of tradition and society for my own selfish feelings.

Que.... Seriously. How many years of psychology have you had? People have different tastes in what turns them on. Some people like Asians, some people like lesbians, some people like cross dressing. Why is it acceptable for that stuff to be a turn on, but not being turned on by same-sex stimuli?

If I fell in love with a woman I would not immediately want to marry her. Eventually it could lead to that but I don't see the point to get married since most women these days give it up without a ring and since I don't want children I don't see the point of marriage. Same sex couples only have the option of adoption for males and females well, they can figure it out.

You would marry her because you love her and when it comes to love, you look past a lot of stuff... That's why you would do the same if your lover was a girl or a guy. You wouldn't do anything differently because you would love them just the same. It's as simple as that.
That's why these gays want the same respect and same right to marry who they love. They look past what the gender is of their partner just as you would.

Well as I stated a few posts back same sex couples get "civil unions" it's the same as marriage and available in a dozen or so states. I haven't been counting. Hawaii is one. I hear it's beautiful there.

Anyhow, why are you turning this into gay marriage thread? It's about mental illness.
