I can firmly say that a good portion of people living in the southern states are pretty oblivious to whats going on in the world. For instance...Every other person that i've talked to from the southern areas of the states assume that just because i'm from Canada i live in an igloo, it's cold and snows all year round. Texans are just completely something else in a league of their own. You guys build your own reputation...

Travel from northern Florida to southern Florida without using the highway and then reevaluate that statement. To put it simply, you're wrong.

Oh, and I told you so.

Good! I was sick of living in Flora-bama and lower Gerogia anyways!

JustinWoodypond wrote:I live in the South. Heart of Bible Belt. People are lame and need to get over their picking and choosing what is right and wrong. Obama won and I couldn't be happier. I am actually saddened that it wasn't a larger landslide. Show's how ignorant many Americans are voting for someone like McCain/Palin. Emphasis on Palin.

Isn't it ironic that there is so much hate in the bible belt? I don't understand how people can believe in Jesus and still be haters.

Today school was canceled in Jacksonville because someone threatened violence if Obama won the election. It's 2008 and I fear we are on the precipice of a race war. I hope these next 4 years snuffs out the remaining embers of hate and that those that perpetuate it see the error of their ways.

I believe that there were good reasons to vote for McCain but I also believe that there were better reasons to vote for Obama. Still it seems to me that many McCain supporters are haters. Anyone watch McCain's concession speech? Youtube it if you haven't. Every time McCain mentioned Obama's name there were loud boos from the crowd. When Obama first mentioned McCain's name in his speech there were cheers. I think this gives a good picture of the type of people on either side.

As I have said before...Black guys are cool. Good at basketball and other sports. In terms of physical...i try to compare up with "black people".

Obama just has something there that doesnt make me like him. Im entitled to that. Sorry if there was anything people took racial.

Yankee & Deep and dirty south are just characteristics that are used. I never once said i was gonna kill him. Some people are just so radical that they might try.... and id expect it to happen in a place like Alabama then in say New York. Get it?

Just don't label an entire demographic the way you did, I don't think you live in an igloo.. Neither does any person I know think that.

When you say a good portion you stereotype "most" of those people. How many of these "oblivious" people have you met? Maybe a few.

I am sure Obama is not a saint, I can't think of a president in the last 100 years that ever was, can anyone?

I think it is only fair to wait until he gives cause instead of going off of hearsay or gut instict especially when I doubt you have met him face to face. Isn't he entitled to that?

Give the man a chance. If Obama is as twisted as you think it won't take long to show will it?

Well, when about 50% out of about a hundred people have stereotyped Canada (that i've spoken to/met)...or when my girlfriend went down to visit her cousin in Atlanta went to his school for the day and they found out she was from Canada they all looked at her like she was from a different planet and proceeded with questions that refer back to the typical stereotype of Canada...

I'd say thats a good portion

If you guys can't discuss a simple topic without being prejudice towards each other (this goes for everyone, not just one person), or even disrespectful for the least, then this topic WILL be locked. Carry on.
