I believe that the people of Iran are more oppressed than the people of Iraq were when Saddam was in power. At least under Saddam you could choose your own religion or own an AK.

People do not believe me when I tell them that there was freedom of religion in Iraq. Most of the middle east is Muslim but there is also a lot of religious tolerance there too. I met an Iranian woman that was Jewish, but of course I met her in America though.

I have been in the middle east including Iraq and not all women cover up over there. They had a choice to cover up or not or even to follow the Koran or not. In some ways Iraqi women had more freedom under Saddam than they would have living in Saudi Arabia! I was amazed when I learned this and it really got me thinking about why the U.S. is really there.

oil and army bases.
I already knew the reason U.S. went there was bs after it was proven there was no weapons of mass destruction.

Anyway yah Saddam did give his people much more freedoms, so many loved him, i mean he was no where near a bad leader.
And lets not forget U.S. put him in power.
But anyway you find few countries in Middle East with religious tolerance

The main problem with Saddam was that he persecuted the tsaudi's and gave the shiates extra privileges while at the same time raiding the tsuni's and having them raped and killed...... also... middle eastern chicks with light colored eyes are super hot :D

*i apologize if i got the tsunis saudis shiates or anyone mixed up but, u get the jist of it..

Don't forget the U.S. also sold weapons to Iran; though they should have shown Iran what to do with them.

My opinion:
Iraq DID have weapons of mass destruction, Israel told us that themselves. They secretly informed us that because they are on constant survey over there to what happens with satellites and what not. However we didn't get in there fast enough so they were able to hide them. But yeah, i believe they had weapons of mass destruction but were able to hide them.

In a nutshell...

#1 Iraq invaded Iran in 1980 because the CIA wanted revenge for the hostage crisis and talked Saddam into it. In exchange CIA sold various gases (chemical weapons) to Iraq.

#2 Reagan (the president at the time) sold Iran weapons (hardware) to fight the Iraqis so that America could get money to stop the communist insurgency in Central America from taking hold.

#3 Around 1988 Iraq gave up because they were broke and weren't making any progress with the war. Also one year earlier news of the arms deals to the middle east were leaked to the American public revealing the scandal.

#4 1991 Saddam figures he can reclaim Kuwait from when the British annexed it in 1959 (or so) to help pay for his country's war debt.

5# The Saudis not having an army of their own and afraid that they could be next call upon the U.S. to stop Saddam.

Note... When oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia by American Geologist hired to look for water by King Al Saud, America made a deal. It was stated that America would protect Saudi Arabia in exchange for oil. This is why Osama Bin Laden's Mujahadeen Army was not used. When the Gulf War ended in 1991 Saudi Arabia paid America for the entire war WITH interest. Bin Laden, enfuriated that Arabs were not permitted to resolve the issue swore revenge on the U.S. for corrupting his country's ways.

or maybe they use Osama as a scaring tool.
Maybe he still does work for the CIA

You know, when there is no enemy to fight, you create on *cough* Osama Bin Laden *cough*

Back in those days I am sure he was all pumped up from fighting the Russians in Afghanistan. I think he really thought he could drive out Saddam with his army.

Osama Bin Laden is DEAD

This is why:

My dad was in the Air Force and recently retired. Before that , when he went on operation desert stike (or some thing like that) they found bin laden for like the 10th time. BTW they asked for bombs, to bomb bin laden, and at the time my dad was working in munitions (bomb building, missile building, etc...) and he was the "supervisior" guy @ the time they ordered the bombs. they said they wanted bobms so ha made some bigs donkey ones (i dunno what they r called but will annihilate a 50km radius) anyways they dropped those bombs and killed him. BTW bush didnt want him dead, and if evey1 knew he was dead bush's donkey is screwed. so they made a cover up and now eveyones asking "Wherez bim laden?" the answer :DEAD
