I also would like to thank everyone for not just dropping this subject. I love these kinds of threads but when people just stop posting I get kinda sad...

Okay, so, your analogy: I believe your analogy is absurd. Yes, of course, rarely guests may come over and shift your house or something and it'll make you mad. I remember on Malcom in the Middle, their grandmother came and did that but this is different. The immigrants do not change or try to change anything. Like Brent said, there's no loss for the television station or radio station broadcasting in different languages. There's only good that comes from it. Most people that listen to the stations speak both languages anyways.
Plus, they're not inviting themselves... We encourage all kinds of foreigners to come and live in this country.

In America and most countries, you're supposed to clean up after your pets unless they mess in the middle of the woods or something. You just assumed that they come from another country because they didn't say anything and you assumed they didn't speak English. I think that was pretty s-word-y of the lady but you can't just assume she didn't speak English and came from a country that doesn't respect other people or peers.
You should have stopped her if she was disrespecting you at all.
Do you work at Petsmart? I mean, if you can't require them to clean it up maybe she was just trying to leave so she wouldn't have to if she didn't know that or maybe she was embarrassed.

I kinda understand when you say you want immigrants to be like the country they're visiting. I don't want someone coming here sticking up their middle finger in an elementary school or anything. I think that we should tell the immigrants what to do, but instead, we should tell them, or suggest, what not to do. I know that's how I would want to be treated.

I don't really understand why you told the story about welcoming someone to America. What were you trying to say? Or even, what were you trying to ask him? You asked him where he was from because you wanted to relate his looks to where his ancestors were from. Just because his ancestors are from one country doesn't mean that he is and therefore, why would welcome him to America if you didn't know what country he's lived in or came from. Maybe he lived in America his entire life.

Now I see, you have not seen this for yourself so you are still in disbelief!

One example that I have seen for myself. There is a border city right on the edge of Alexandria and Arlington Virginia, it used to be known as "Arlandria". In the 80s there were many immigrants that settled there I guess because there was civil war in their country. Anyways, by the 90s the border town was changed. The diverse community that was there was pushed out and now was mainly made up mostly of this refugee immigrant group. The name of the town was unofficially changed to "Chirilagua" by them. I am guessing that is the name of the city from where most of these immigrants originated. Locals no longer have a reason to go there and English is the second language. It was essentially a take over.

Sure we do, most make a positive contribution to our country. I am just bitter about those that for whatever reason left their land and come here and try to turn our country into their country.

I am not 100% certain she did not speak English but I am 100% certain she was an ungrateful immigrant and did not appreciate me calling attention to her and her ill mannered dogg. OH and she didn't even try to leave! She kept on shopping! I told management and pointed her out but they did nothing except clean up after her. She should have told management "my dogg messed up, sorry" then maybe I would have forgotten about this.

Exactly. Except that I feel we shouldn't have to tell anyone how to behave, it is sort of expected and should be understood.

That I am not an immigrant hater. I only ask that people that come here seeking whatever be respectful, respect our laws and our people/culture and I would graciously do the same in return.

Yes, nuked you with imaginary nukes. Very scary. If Al Gore got the presidency that people voted him in for, which W. stole, there would be no terrorism, no Iraq War, and our planet would be in a much better state environmentally.

This man is a moron. He likens Obama to Hitler because HE IS POPULAR?????????????????????

Perhaps he should liken HIMSELF to Hitler...in fact he did. He mentioned Hitlers ability to put people in a trance with his preaching...which is EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING! Christians are absolute morons. He says Jesus was hung in that sermon. In fact this man is a religious fundementalist, just as any Al Qaeda member.

Sorry to jump in with an off-topic post, but can we not keep quoting posts that appear on the same page? We end up with huge quotes like farquezy's...

IN the Global Warming thread please.

I am glad the W years are over.
It amazes me that the man completed 2 terms and still has supporters.
W's family history has been kept out of the media very well. If any of it had received serious airplay during his campaign he likely would never have become president. W's grandfather was a Nazi supporter during WWII. W's father was head of the CIA at a time when illicit drug use in America increased. W himself ran every company he ever headed into the ground (including America if you want to consider it a corporation) except for Harken oil which was kept afloat by an infusion of cash from the Saudis. What interest would the Saudi's have with a small failing American oil company when they have so much oil of their own? Let's not forget that 15 of 19 hijackers were Saudi's, None were from Iraq but who did we go to war with?. 6 Secret Service agents STILL guard the Saudi embassy in Washington DC on W's orders. W also approved the departure of 150 or so members of the Bin Laden family from America at a time when US citizens were not allowed to fly even if their lives depended on it. The Bin Laden's weren't even questioned as to the whereabouts of Osama before they left, perhaps because Osama had nothing to do with 9/11 or the FBI would list it on his rap sheet.
I don't see how anyone that knows any of this and MORE can say that W was a good president and can agree with all his decisions.

I am not going to call Obama a messiah. He has inherited a mess though. I hope we pull out of this mess and get back to where we were in 2000 and hopefully not allow some boob to run the country into the ground again.

Obama has studied Constitutional Law and I can only hope that he returns this country back to the principles of this document. Time will tell. History will judge.

It's spelt liar. Also, because you had a little snow in your little down does not mean global warming is a myth (why do I even have to explain that?) Also, shouldn't carbon be taxed? Its damaging to the planet. How does that make him a fraud. And I don't think your scientific findings really amount to much against SEVERAL THOUSAND SCIENTISTS WITH DECADES OF EXPERIENCE AND COUNTLESS QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDER YOU CAN'T EVEN SPELL!!!!

Let's debate this in the appropriate thread. I have posted and await your response.
