Should Micro$oft come out with a hand held?

I think it is about time Micro$oft entered the handheld arena.

Obviously the device would have WiFi and essentially be a palmtop computer but perhaps there would be special interface options similar to what $ony is doing with the PS3. Even if it was nothing more than a pocket Xbox I think that would be cool. I suppose the Nomad did not do well because it was ahead of its time but I think now is the time for handhelds.

I mean Micro$oft copied from everyone else to get where they are, why not continue to stay there?

I think if Micro$oft pulled it off it would drive down the cost of mini computers. Anyone else agree?

haha. Well which games would be good ports to play on a xbox handheld? I think Halo would be great on the run, but would the screen be too small? I would look forward to it, it would be very interesting to see how it looks. I'm thinking they would make it more of a portable computer than a gaming machine. Probably touch screen or something.

PS: Nice post count Jay-Jay, 777 :D :D

Too late? Between the DS which has almost as much power as a Nintendo 64 and the PSP which has almost as much power as a PS2... I see tons of room for improvement. I only see one system that I'd buy between those two. Microsoft may very well be able to turn a penny with a handheld gaming device.

I agree. The DS sells but that is because it is cheap is Gameboy advanced compatible. Because of this DS has a crapton of games! I have a DS...somewhere.

I was thinking that Micro$oft could make mini ports of some 360 titles of course like Lost Planet which I think WAS a mini port. Pocket Gears of War might be cool. Of course Xbox Live Arcade Pocket. I mean I know HALO kept the Xbox alive but there were plenty of titles that all of us eventually warmed up to, right?

A Micro$oft handheld would absolutely have to have 100% Xbox game compatibility so I can have "The Guy Game" on the ho! (err, I meant go)

That would mean a dual layer DVD reader; so you could imagine the minimum size this thing would be. I guess cargo pants are a must to haul something that big around. Unless there was some way to completely digitize the information like there is with PSP.

A Micro$oft handheld would probably cost around $400 dollars I am guessing because 80gig MP3 players cost close to $300 on the retail market and do not have enough power to run Xbox games on the go.

That would solve one Xbox title.

What about the rest of the games that never came out on PC like "Castlevania" Burnout3 or "War of the Monsters" (to name a few) for example? Those aren't my all time favorites but they are popular titles that you can not play on a laptop.

YEa it would be tite to have a portable with the center the same size as a DVD disc so you could stick dvds in it and xbox games. That would be leet, I mean a DVD isn't that big. If it was that size, then the screen would be like 6-7 inches? Hm thats a little big for a portable I guess. You couldn't stick that in your pocket or carry it around lol.

NDS is getting one actually. The buttons stick into the GBA slot.

I think I saw an adapter that attaches on the DS for guitar hero somewhere. I do not know if I will go and get one, I would like to try it out first.

I have to hand it to Nintendo for being innovative.
