Yeah I turned it on not too long ago. I only caught a few awards but freaking GTA IV won GOTY! Thats gay, it didn't deserve it over MGS4. All it was, was hype.

This is sad, first x-play says fable 2 is game of the year, and now the VGA's say its GTA thats great, like seriously were is the fallout 3/littlebigplanet. Also who the hell picked Jack Black to host, that is bull.

Idk but it seems Fable 2 is a no name game so it wouldn't win, maybe best RPG though - except it has Fallout 3 to fight for it.
Gears 2 hasn't been out long enough to get Goty I think.

The show was a marketing ploy, to help the undecided in their holiday gift choices.

I didn't watch it but GTA IV was far more deserving than any other title - easily. There's more creative writing on the fake in-game internet alone than there is in most of the contenders. I'd have to say, the ONLY game that could have taken Game of the Year away from GTA IV is Metal Gear Solid 4. That was a truly amazing game and even though the movie scenes in the game take up about 8 days of your life, it was nothing short of brilliant.

But seriously, for those of you who think GTA IV didn't deserve Game of the Year... you have to think about all of the effort that went into that game and how amazing the city turned out to be. It's deserving all right.

Invested effort alone does not make a great game. To make my point a lot of effort went into "Battlecruiser3000".

There were lots of things left out of GTA4. Yea the city is detailed but that is to be expected considering the computing power of the consoles these days. There were many things left out of the game that were in other games such as having the ability to buy houses and cars and weapons oh and my favorite, financial investments! You could own a club and rake in cash daily! Was there even a place to bet on horses or a casino in GTA4?

In GTA4 you earned a lot of money but there was no "need" to buy anything. There was nothing to do at the airport you couldn't hijack a plane like in other games there were no parachutes to go base jumping Where is the mini gun?

My opinion San Andreas or even Vice City had more depth than this game even though they both had inferior graphics.
Good graphics does not make a great game.

GTA4 was not an awful game it was just not as good as its predecessors and to prove my point go to your local game store and count how many used copies of this game are on the shelf.

Bleh I never watch the VGA's. But GTA IV winning it? That sounds ridiculous to me. I know tons of people like the GTA series but they just seem so awfully stupid to me. I just can't stand to play any GTA game at all, I mean the stupid story line is just retarded. I think I will stick to FPS.

I'm not a big fan of the GTA series either. I have San Andreas and it was an good game, and LCS but I got bored of LCS after I couldn't beat a mission. The mini games are fun though.

Yea, it's all biased marketing. I mean, some of those titles JUST came out like Left for dead and Gears2!
