Windows 7

So, even though Microsoft isn't allowing official downloads of 7 on their site, apparently you can still get an activation key. I haven't tested the key's that I got yet since I'm waiting until I get a new hard drive to test out windows 7, but if you haven't tried 7 and think you might want to before it goes retail, then at least go pick up a key and download one of the beta releases floating around on teh internets.

Directions:

1. Go to Microsoft's technet site and log in (I assume using Windows Live ID i.e. MSN)

http://technet.microsoft.com/

2. After you log in, paste the proper link in the same window and go to it.

https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperienc ... &LCID=1033 for 64 bit

https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperienc ... &LCID=1033 for 32 bit

There you go. Legit activation codes for Windows 7 beta. If you try it out, post your results with what build you activated.

I'm still going to just wait for it, even though you could get this by other means but.... Because I don't feel like having to put this on and then take it off when it stops working then not be able to put Vista sp1 back on because I never got a disk with it blahblahblah..... So yea, it looks great, feels great, works great and really like it but I am just going to wait for it.

I haven't tried it yet, but I do want to get another hd so I might try it out on the new hd i want to get before i use it for media purposes. I heard it was actually pretty good though, might be a viable upgrade for me a few months after it is released.

Looks like it takes up about 8 gigs... I decided to delete the hackintosh install on a spare drive and give this windows 7 a spin. They key I got from microsoft using the above method worked. Verified and I'm good to go using a validated installation of the latest beta.

First impressions... fast! I only have 1 gig of ram on laptop. Not a gaming machine in the slightest.
