UGH

Well, I tried getting Windows 7 and wiped my hard drive some how, so I reinstalled Vista. And I am missing everything, drivers, applications everything. So Yea I don't think I will be on for a few days just wanted to say that.

By the way, once I reinstalled I don't have the Vista Transparency anymore, I even go into the thing that usually lets you enable it or not and nothing. Any help would be great!!!

You should always keep a spare burnt CD with all of your drivers and/ or a notepad file on there with links to where to get to them online. Good stuff.

You might not have any transparency in vista because your graphics/ display driver isn't installed so Windows Aero isn't enabled yet?

if you go into your control panel, and click the little computer icon "system settings" and click "performance" then check which boxes you want. Vista Aero should be an option.

On some lower powered computers, Aero may not have enough power. It might help to also go into Control Panel and then into "Power Options" and set your "Power Plan" to "High Performance."

I did until I killed the graphics card aha. Now I just have a laptop. And yes I just didn't have my graphics drivers in so Aero and everything is back to normal and am now just slowly building up my program list again. Plus I think it was a good thing to start from complete scratch ten times faster now! Plus I'm rocking Windows 7 RC on my second partition.

Unfortunately I can't use the fancy Aero themes on my laptop. With only 2 gigs of ram and a sub 2 Ghz processor, my comp will start stuttering HD video if I do anything else and that theme is on. I do love Windows 7 though. It's so snappy. Its my main OS now. Hopefully it will be cracked soon after release so I dont have to shell out for a retail copy.

Are you serious? My laptop is crap, its a dell inspirion 1525, 2GB Ram, and 1.67GHz and I have Aero (complete transparency and all effects) and watch HD video all the time (no stuttering or anything), with lots of programs in the background, FireFox, PhotoShop CS3, Live, etc. And it runs great, yea I wish it was better but doing all of that is easy on my laptop. I have even edited HD video and no stuttering or anything!

I have a dell 1500, lol. I think because im running dual monitors is slows it down. When I watch HD video, its connected to my 32in LCD tv.

Lol this sounds like I am trying to out beat you but aha, I have mine either connected to a 22" LCD Monitor via VGA, or my 50" LCD TV via HDMI.

But yea, still good enough for me, and I guess everybodys computers are different.

I think I found what the problem is... your computer was released almost 2 years after mine. I'm sure your laptops graphics abilities are a lot better than mine. You may even be running faster RAM.

By the way, only people with bad computers even give a care about Aero ;) but then again my PC is for gaming. I have a gaming laptop too but it's kinda... idk, not working.

Well, when you are living abroad gaming PC's are just not practical. And it's expensive as hell to build a computer outside of the US.
