Just stick your old hd into your new computer as a slave drive.

I tired that already, the cables are too different. The old computer has the old pin ide cables and the new one has those small slot ide cables. There are no 40 pin ide cable attachments anywhere on this new computer Also the old HDD doesnt have any slot in the back for those new small ide cables

If there's nothing BIG on there taht you need, honestly i would drill a hole in your old hard drive and throw it out.

You can get a cheap external enclosure off newegg for cheap. You won't need anything fancy.... plus it's always nice having one around in case you need to pull anything off a drive.

If you can't use the IDE channel on the motherboard then I highly doubt the external enclosure will support whatever old hard drive you have.

If you have a router/switch just use that, right > share, and access the files over yur network.

Yep, you can just plug both computer up to the router w/ cat5's unless both have wireless cards in them, right click and share the drive on the computer u want to the files from, and then on the destination you could either go to network places and navigate to the drive that way through your network or right click computer and map a networked drive that way. I'm sure someone more familiar with networking could give u exact terms but if u have any problems I can help.

External enclosures use the same IDE channel as mobo's. If it won't work on the mobo I doubt it will work in an external enclosure nub cakes.
