Wii did come up with it first and the gimick is quickly fading. http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2009/1 ... r_wii.html

This comes too late for PS3 and I think the general attitude or reception for it will be "been there done that".
$ony will loose money on this one.

Sorry fanboys, but the truth is the truth.

no, its not the truth, its your own damn opinion.

that like saying, if the xbox got sixaxis-like controllers, me saying

this is already on the ps3. microsoft is gonna lose money and so on. what if its a hit?

this psmove is waaay more advance in tech then a wiimote. seriously. just cuz your precious microsoft product doesnt have, doesnt mean you need to rain down hell on it, and that its gonna suck. thats not why dcm posted this.

I would edit your ignorant comment airplanes, because I have warned you not once but twice about starting flame battles about Microsoft vs. Sony when nothing was stated about the other.

So, instead of warning you I guess DPM, I, and Ace will have to come up with a punishment because, quite frankly, I am tired of it starting arguments. There is a topic for this kind of "discussion" and I would have been more than happy for you (or anyone else) to take the fanboy remarks to it.

Now onto the topic. This will drive competition and when two companies compete we win. I am happy to say I hope Sony does well with this so Nintendo and Microsoft take note and try to make it even better.

Gizmodo wrote:I just got hands on with two of the games, one is Socom, a shooter that has been adapted to use the Move and the sub-controller, the second is the Sports Champions swordfighting.

Socom, compared to point-and-shoot shooters on the Wii, was much smoother, much less jittery and more accurate. The combination of Move and PlayStation Eye seems to work well in this aspect, but it's not exactly better to use this when you compare it to a standard controller or a Mouse + Keyboard. I can see this as better for novices to shooters, being able to aim where you want to shoot.

The other game, the Sports Champions sword + shield fighting, is about what you'd expect. It's more or less 1:1 motion, like the Wii MotionPlus, but it's not so much more accurate than the Wii that you'd call it a dramatic improvement. An improvement, yes, but not dramatic. The left hand also holds a controller in order to wave the shield around, and that was a bit awkward in my experience. Right hand was fine, left hand a bit awkward to control simultaneously.

Swinging the hammer to your left, or right, or over your head actually moves it on screen, but again, it's not SO much better than Wii MotionPlus. The graphics, of course, are one generation higher, but the controls, ehhh.

@ airplanes18

I said it just to ruffle your feathers airplanes. No, actually I said it because it is true.

The Wii has been out for roughly 4 years now and that is how long it took $ony to come out with this "Move". It's obviously a copy cat Wii gimmick and judging by the video I think all $ony did was reinvent the wheel. Popularity for the Wii is fading (judging by sales figures and title releases) so if people are losing interest in the Wii's main trick then why would they be interested in PS3s version? That is the logic behind my comment.

The eyetoy flopped and that was something of a copy of Nintendo's gamboy camera http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy_Camera

My advice to $ony is to not base success off the failures of others.

Unfortunately, anytime anyone says anything about their (insert brand here) console people always get their feelings hurt. That is what the fanboys comment was about. There are "360 fanboys" too but they really aren't part of this topic so obviously I wasn't referring to them. My 360 remains untouched for weeks and I don't even have a Gold live account so I personally don't consider myself a 360 fanboy. BTW I own all 3 major consoles and both handhelds so I think I am a bit better qualified than most to judge here.

As for the apparent flaming, I don't see why my opinion matters to you so much anyway. I am going to bet that you don't get an extra dime of income if one system sells more than the other so I really don't understand the passion behind the response to my post.

To wrap this up and move on; I posted my opinion on an open forum and made general statements backed up with a reference. Sorry you took them personal Airplanes. I expected my post to be the second, not the 3rd. You made your post while I was making mine, so I was oblivious to your comments.

And if the mods are reading please find it in you to let airplanes slide on this one. I'm not mad so there is no need for discipline here. Thank you for your attention as always.

I don't think anyone's flaming. Airplanes made a valid point. So I think people need to chill.

Sony isn't trying to reinvent the wheel here. They're just trying to break into the motion control market and take some of Nintendo's profits. Let's face it, the Wii is a kids console. The PS3 is not. But what if the PS3 became an all inclusive console? Suddenly Sony's selling games for a broader demographic than what they are currently serving.

Besides, the Wii has motion control, the xbox is getting it. If you aren't at least trying to match your competitor's offerings then you are putting yourself at a disadvantage for giving consumers and excuse NOT to buy your product.

I'm not sure what made this another xbox vs. ps3 thread among the many out there, but it does seem like this "He started it so I ended it" or "if he can do it I can do it too" attitudes are too prevalent now. If you can't express your feelings without flaming or just typing cuss words then shush.

In my opinion, this whole motion sensitive stuff is just a gimmick for now to tap into that future type of feel we have all been raised on as children. The only motion sensitive thing that I would think would be a hit is some sort of neural thinking cap, which wouldn't be motion sensitive..., so I guess I mean "futuristic" technology. Like it's been mention, Nintendo attempted to tap into this type of hard ware and now it's just commonly known as a outplayed party favor. I assume the ps3 dildo will do the same.

oh i sincerely doubt that. nintendo is almost the father of video games. they need to majorly step up to the plate, for they have very little to offer, but they have the ability to blow away the xbox and ps3. just havent. dont know why.

What are you talking about. Nintendo is one of the few companies in the WORLD to still be turning profits during the financial crisis. They will continue to do so because they target the largest demographic... children and families.

Yes, Nintendo has "the most" to offer in terms of user friendliness at the right price point. Nintendo sells more products than Microsoft and Sony as far as gaming goes because they tend to target the easiest audience (that being children/ families) whereas Microsoft and Sony are trying to fight over the more mature audience (17-35) and each are doing it poorly. Both Sony and Microsoft constantly vie for attention in their target demographic which consequently produces lower sales numbers (and higher piracy rates, one would argue) than Nintendo who targets the "easy" audience and benefits greatly from it.
