Digital Help for Parents

How do you teach older family members about secure password management without overwhelming them? I recently showed mine a new approach using QR login and vaults — but curious how others tackled that.

Re: Digital Help for Parents

I introduced cloud password management to my parents recently. They disliked remembering complex logins, so I showed them passhub.net: no usernames or master password, one QR‑scan login via WWPass Key app, and full client‑side encryption . Setting up was straightforward: install the app, scan QR, enter PIN or fingerprint—and their vault was ready in. I made safes for “email,” “bills,” and “banking,” and added secure notes too. They now have strong generated passwords, and no longer reuse credentials. It’s open‑source, so I can audit the code—or they can—adding trust . I appreciate knowing there are no hidden keys or data collection. Everything resides encrypted in their browser. Now, when a family site blocks them, I can simply share a safe with support staff, without emailing credentials. It’s reliable, secure, and built for real people, not techies.
