Random redirects.

I am not new to computers so I am really puzzled by this. I have 3 machines. 2 are on XP and one is on Windows 7.

My issue is that when I do a yahoo search or google it occasionally redirects me to another page or another portal. I have the latest Norton and I have used Malwarebytes and it all comes up clean so I don't think it's my machine. The issue occurs whether I use Firefox or IE8

I am thinking about calling up the ISP and asking them. I use AT&T.

Anyone else having this issue?

Re: Random redirects.

Sometimes your router will do it, too. What page is it redirecting you to?

Re: Random redirects.

OH I don't remember all of them.

Some are video cop some are outdoor life. some are some Ad something or other. Sometimes it's some obscure search engine. I was going to slick this computer but once I saw that all of them are doing it I began to reconsider.

I was thinking about the router but I don't know what is wrong. There are no firmware updates and I have had this router longer than the pages have been doing this. I will reset the router once I am finished with this download and see if that changes anything.

Re: Random redirects.

Well, I think it's malware... I would suggest writing down some of the sites it's redirecting you to, especially if it's a crappy search engine, and post it here or give Google a quick try.

Re: Random redirects.

He said firefox and IE...

anyways, I'd recommend you install the ad-block addon for firefox (use fanboy's subscription), then delete all your browsing data (so that the cookies and cache and other stuff gets removed), and then try...

Yea I was going to get Zone alarm but that's a better idea; I will try that first. Thanks.

Re: Random redirects.

Zone Alarm wouldn't be the best firewall, it causes this file expanding problem for many. This file in its installation directory keeps getting bigger and bigger...

Re: Random redirects.

I used to use Zone Alarm but I don't much anymore. I never noticed an expanding file.

The Ad block plug-in for Fire fox isn't working. I am thinking about calling my ISP I think it could be on the server side.
