custom gaming computer

hey all, i'm currently looking for a good gaming computer. who all here knows about desktop gaming pcs? i'm looking for one that will allow me to play games like starcraft 2, mw2, bfbc2, crysis, etc, since my mac just isn't cutting it with graphics and compatibility since it is a few years old.
my friend will sell me this computer for 700:
1T hdd
6g ram (4 gb ddr3, 2 gb ddr2)
Pyn gtx 260 graphics card
Cretive titanium sound card
cooler master case
750w power
Intel quad core 2.7ghz prosserser
And the screen is a 22" HP Hd 1080p
windows vista 64 bit - which i would upgrade to windows 7.

is this computer already a little dated and not worth it? what do you guys think? i posted this also at the gamespot pc forums and they seemed to say not to get it and that there's already better stuff i could get that is a better value. what do you guys think? i'm curious that maybe the people at gamespot think that you need top of the line gaming systems, but i'm been out of the loop with computers for a few years now.

what would you guys do?

well i have an asus motherboard with:
amd athlon II x 2 240 at 2.80 ghz dual core
4gig ram
a 500 gig and a 2 terabyte hard drive
a 1 gig ati radeon hd 5670 vid card (fixed the model number lol)
on board sound
it cost me about $800 to build this pc myself

i haven't had any problems with any of those games u have listed i have run them all on high settings

looks like good system but i prefer to build my own pc besides it out of stock lol

At a glance it looks good though I think the i5 is more than anyone needs right now it will help out in the future. I own a GTX 460 for video. It's a solid card and it supports DX11. When the time is right I will buy a quad core that fits on my 775 socket(q8xxx series) and I will be right there with you. Game on!

how do those pieces look? along with that, is there ANYTHING at all that i'd have to buy to get the computer running (any other parts or anything besides a copy of windows 7)?

I personally avoid AMD and ATI.

I bought a socket 775 mobo for $60
A dual core cpu for $60
Spent $120 on 4 gigs of ram
GTX460 @ < $250
recycled a case and powersupply

and could play Starcraft2 and Crysis cranked up, no problems.

I dropped a $200 Quad9300 CPU in the same rig today and don't really notice a change.

The choice is yours. Do the math.
