Devhook 2.71 Emulation Tutorial by Mailas G

Hey everyone, Mailas G here with another crazy tutorial. I know its been a while since a ton of
people asked me to make one but Im here now to present my Devhook 2.71 Installation tutorial
by hand.
Before we start, make sure you have either 1.00 or 1.50 firmware on you're PSP.
Also, make sure you have a good enough memory stick since you will be putting some cool
games on here if you are desired to put huge ISO's on you're PSP. If not, then use a 32 mb stick,
what ever you desire.
Now, lets get to the steps as always:
    1)
For this tutorial, we will be using version 0.44 of devhook since I find its the easiest to install with
    2.71 emulation.
    So lets download it:
Please click this text to download devhook 0.44
Once downloaded, open up the zip file.
    2)
After you have opened the .ZIP file of devhook 0.44, please go to this link to get the 2.71 system
    software update eboot:
Download it on this text like above
With this, I advise you NOT TO UPDATE TO 2.71 WITH THIS, unless you are all hell blent on
homebrew, skip this tutorial and upgrade, i reccomend you don't, but its you're choice in favor
    whether you don't want homebrew.
    3)
With the 2.71 eboot system software update on you're computer, we can now move on to
actually installing devhook onto you're Sony Playstation Portable Firmware 1.00 or 1.50.
So get you're memory stick ready (it doesn't matter what kind, this fits on all memory sticks
    currently available to the public).
But first, we need to download one more thing before we begin.
Please download PSPBrew. Its an application, not this website lol.
Once you have downloaded it, install it and open it.
After you have opened up PSPBrew, I would like you to then go to Load Eboot and load the 2.71
    eboot update you downloaded earlier.
Once you have done that, click the DATA.PSAR file on the bottom window under list files, and
extract it to the root of you're memory stick like so:
    Image
After its selected, click Extract file and extract it to either you're Desktop or the root of you're
memory stick (its going on the root anyways).
If you don't know how to put things on you're memory stick heres something that should teach
    you how:
Notice how theres a cord connected to the top of my psp like so below? Thats
called the usb connector cable. You're psp should have came with one, so connect it like so to
    you're PC or Mac:

    Image
After, on the menu of you're PSP (the xmb dashboard) go to Settings and then USB Connection
once you have plugged in you're USB cable from you're PSP to you're PC or Mac like so:
    Image
Now we have access to the memory stick.
This is infact the ROOT of you're PSP Memory stick.
    4)
Anyhow, you should have put the DATA.PSAR file on you're Desktop or here, if you have not, put
it on the ROOT of you're memory stick, now.
Once its on, put the dh folder on you're root, and put the PSP folder on you're root (if you have a
GAME folder in you're PSP folder all ready, just put the contents of the GAME folder on you're
GAME folder in you're PSP folder in you're ROOT)
Once you have extracted the devhook 0.44 folders on you're PSP Memory stick, you may now
run the firmware installer.(be sure to also install flash0 and flash1)
    5)
After you have run the firmware installer, go back to you're ROOT memory stick by using the usb
    connection again like before.
Now, since you have run the firmware installer, what I want you to do now, is just copy the dh
folder on you're memory stick, and over right the current one(its going to be a couple of .txt
which include the path for the prx's so don't worry).
    6)
    PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY:
The next file I am going to ask you to get, is infact a copy righted file, so BE
    CAREFUL.

What we need to do now, is get a decompressed 2.71 reboot.bin from google.
Remember, read the note up top, this is a copyrighted file were talking about, so pspbrew cannot
host it or have it on the forums what so ever.
Once you have googled it and downloaded it, place that reboot.bin in ms0:dh271reboot.bin
    7)
Almost done, we just have to delete something now.
    Delete the file in ms0:dh271flash1registryinit.dat

Finally, we are done.
All you have to do now is just run Devhook! Adjust it to the settings you like and you're good
to go!

Also, if you want, you can get some iso's and use them with devhook.
But heres something pretty cool, if you have 1.50 firmware, I reccomend you get harleyg's
custom firmware, as it has something that will automatically load up devhook using the wlan
switch. (i havn't gotten it to work, but others have, so google or ask away if you need help on
that)
Well thats about it.
Enjoy Devhook!

Great tutorial, I think a ton of people worrying about the illegality of the Devhook package will be relieved. Great job Mailas :D .
Back, and playing with my "zompsp".

Yea so mostly just use mostly either 32 mb if you're choice, or use 256.
