Thanks for posting this, I think it is great to let people know what kind of PSP to buy once they do start to get one.

Hmm, I've checked local game stores, and there is obviously no A's (1.50's) but just to let you know, I didnt see any 1.51 or 1.52's either. Strange.
Their doing soo much stuff now.
And also, their 2.0's are almost out of stock.

Most of the Giga Packs are still 2.0, which are downgradeable, and a great offer.. I'd snag one now while you can!

You will need GTA:LCS if you want to run any homebrew on it whatsoever..

erm... why actually *this particular game* ? to make GTA work or to make every hack work ?

sorry I'm a noob. you can see that at my HUGE number of posts.

I read something about a bunch of things we have to do to make GTA work from an ISO (and where everyone insisted that you must own the original game blah blah blah).
Is this what homebrew is all about, GTA only ? or is it like a way to make the PSP allow to load games, emulators etc. ?

What it does is GTA allows you to put programs in the save game folder and then when you tell the game to load the saved file it runs the program.

I see. therefore we'll always need the gta UMD to be inserted then ?
so thanks to GTA we can load apps/emulators/full games/whatever from the Memory Stick ?

but hasn't anyone made like a backup of one hacked directory ? well, in my eyes the PSP is just reading off data, so if we could download the needed folders of a *hacked* PSP (but those folders would vary depending of the PSP version), all PSPs with those folders installed would be hacked, no ?

I mean, probably it'll work if we do the hack on a new PSP then copy it's directories to upload on a site. or maybe it's much more complicated...

Well all the system information is kept locked up in places that you can't access easily. And even if we did get the system information the nxt problem woud be how to put it on the PSP itself. Cause when you hookup your psp to the computer your not changing anything on the PSP itself, just the memory stick.

aaaah yes, that's what I forgot. whatever is on my computer's desktop, I am reading it's stick, nothing else...

I am on a Mac so I thought, if I show invisible files and browse in it, maybe I could open some important file with a plain text editor... but no luck.
maybe if I push the USB cable deeper inside the PSP it'll get to the firmware ?? lol ^_^

well I hope they'll be able to create a downgrader for 2.50 :-/

btw, what can I do concretely ? let's admit I have real gta UMD and all installed to use the save file to load etc. what can I run ? some of those apps to download on the site, or actually game isos and such ?

I believe that whoever is in the category "CANNOT downgrade" is painfully limited while everyone else (1.52 & below) can play full games (which they legally already own) from the PSP, am I right ?

but right now all I'd like to be able is play SNES ROMs on it. ROMs I do own, actually... very surprizing isn't it ?

I don't have it yet ;-) I am waiting it on a bid on eBay... 2 more days + sending. if I don't win, crap it, I'll go to the store and buy a new one instead. let's say that within max 1 week I'll be ready.

thank's for everyone's help yet, it's much appreciated !
