There is only one Xecuter 3 chip for versions 1.0-1.6b, the only thing that differs for the 1.6/1.6b is the BIOS that you need to flash it with. Both the regular and the v1.6 bios are packed in the same zip/rar file. Trust me Ive installed a bunch of these, there is only one Xecuter 3 chip, what you might be thinking of is the older version of the X3 that differed only in color and in where some of the connections were. Both work the same on all Xbox versions.

As for that hard drive on ebay:

ebay wrote:Brand will be vary (will be either Maxtor, Seagate, WD or Samsung)

No way of telling if i have no clue what the model number (or even brand) is. Some advice: Don't buy a used hard drive. These things are delicate and you'll regret it a year from now when the platters crash. If you order one online from a place like newegg.com you'll get a good price and usually a 1-5 year warranty (check the warranty info for each model). When you find one that you like post the make, and model number and Ill let you know if its lockable.

Again it says Samsung OR Maxtor so you still have no idea what brand youre bidding on or what model. Maxtor must have at least 8 or more IDE 250GB hard drive models. I certianly wouldnt bid on something if the seller can't clearly state what make and model it is, whethter it is new or used, etc. You can take a gamble. but for $105 US you can order a 320 Gig HDD from newegg.com (not sure about the conversion to AUS). And I really don't know where to get the cheapest chips in australia, Ive never had a need to look into it. I know divineo.com in Canada ships internationally but if you dont want to wait for it to cross more oceans than needed try looking at some of the European mod chip sellers, or post in the "original xbox buy/sell/trade" section in the xbox-scene.com forums asking for modchip dealers in australia.

I agree with everything necro said, and just want to second his newegg statement. They are the BEST place to buy any electronics. Period.
