this is kinda weird cuz
whenever people post torrent sites, it's okay
but whenever ppl post rom sites it's not allowed.

i was wondering why that is.

ISO's are more illegal because the games are still being made and sold, ROMS for most systems are illegal because I guess the companies offer the files up for sale somewhere. I believe that you aren't going to get into as much trouble for using ROMS for out of date systems, but ISO's can get you in big trouble. But it's not like that stopped me from using them... As long as there is data there will be somewhere to get it for free, illegality will always be there since there will always be someone trying to stop it.
----edit----
Well the reason we can't put up sites to ROMS are because they are a lot less legal, but illegal none the less. It's like stealing tic-tac's from a convenience store, there are plenty of em, they are easy to come around, and the police aren't going to chase you down the street for 'em.

because Torrent Sites don't link you directly to the ISOs, now if thepiratebay had a link on their homepage that said, "Get ISOs here" then i'm pretty sure we wouldn't be able to post em, Rom sites, however, do give direct links to roms from certain systems.

but dude,
you cna just search up "pursuit force" (for example)
and it will give u a list of games with that name,
then u can just click on that torrent and download it...
therefore, it IS a "direct" link.

I recently read an article on the legality of torrent sites and the reason they usually don't get closed down is because there are legitimate uses for them. To outlaw torrent sites would be a major problem because the way in which they work is almost identical to the way many government and university download sites work. I wish I knew where I had been reading it. Probably either engadget.com or boingboing.net.
