Sandisk 8gb M2 (Micro) w/ MSPD adapter

Has anyone tried the Sandisk 8gb M2 (Micro) w/ MSPD adapter on their fat PSP? I have one but it doesn't work. I've google'd the problem and everyone is saying that it works for the PSP, both fat and slim.

My fat PSP won't read it. I'm 110% sure that the mem card is real b/c i got it from the my cellular phone provider.

Certain firmwares and below cannot read that much memory.
What firmware do you have?
I remember that firmware 1.5 wouldn't even read 2 gigabyte sticks.
