2.01+ Questions and answers

I'm an xbox modder/hacker and I'm just now reluctant to get a PSP (why choose, buy them and all!). Anyhow, I'm on the otherside of the fence now as a noob...be nice as I have to others ;).

My questions are for 2.01+, being that 1.5/2.0v is hard to get.

1. What can you do with 1.x that you cannot do with 2.01+?
- GTA hack seemed to gap the bridge here?

2. What about the inverse? What can you do with 2.01+ you can't with 1.5v?
- I see that 2.6 has a browser you can use with wireless...can you do that with a 1.5v

3. With 1.5v, is there a way to fake firmware versions up like 2.6 to play games specific to that version.
- if you do fake the version to 2.6, then can you use the browser over wireless?

4. My overall dilema is basically...pay more money for a used 1.5 off craigslist or just get a newer 2.6?
- if i can do the same on the 2.6 as the 1.5 with just extra effort

i would say get a 1.5/2.0 and you won't regre it.

1.) You can run ISOs, all homebrew, and anything else like the SmashGP.

2.) Nothing besides FlashPlayer and an Internent Connection and some other usefull stuff which there is a way to do on the 1.5.

3.) Yes, you can do that and play games like that - a mod chip is coming out soon.
Yes, you can emulate 2.6 firmware and use the brower.

4.) Yes, I would get a 1.5 if you like ISOs, homebrew, and emulating firmware.

Oh yeah, you can also use emus and countless other things I forgot on the 1.5.

I would definately aim to get a 1.5 or a 2.0 to downgrade. If its obscenely priced online or wahtever, I would check your local Circuit City, I know mine has some 1.52s in stock which can be downgraded to 1.5. Also, whats the story with your Xbox. I got a LE Clear Blue Xbox w/ X3 CE and Blue X3CP, 320GB HD w/ XBMC.

Its definately the only way to go since the modchip wont be an option for a while. If your confident in your repair abilites, CLMT from the forums has a 1.5 with a broken screen, so you could fix that up. Also, you didnt mention what ur Xbox is equipped with, do tell.

xecuter chip (before solderless....me and d0 have a mutual respect now).
160 gig
XBMC (networked so i store games, music, vids, etc on my gaming puter)
all the goodie apps
emus for nes/snes, etc.
i've got about 40 games or so on it right now.

i modded my manager's box at work, after that he was hooked. so he donated an IBM server in out server room with a big storage array and we all bring in our xbox periodically and dump all our games there. pretty cool, too many games to list. i quit modding boxes because after being solderless, the chips were easy and you only have to dl the right iso's to do the bios programs, and format for bigger hard drives.

i figure i would get back into the know of things, the psp seemed like the most fun. i'm hardly home to play my xbox and my housemates got 360 going online so if i am home that's what we'll play.

now, off to find me a 1.5/2.0 psp off craigslist! i'll let you know how that goes.

2.0 your fine. And I have a funny games story. I rented like 30 games from family video one day and it only cost me 18 bucks thanks to this "value" type program they have. each new release gives you like two free old ones.
