Sony's New Mylo communicator
Sony has announced a new handheld device, known as the Mylo personal communicator, that will keep users in-touch and online when they are on the go. The Mylo uses Wi-Fi, with a focus on instant messaging, music, video, and Internet calling capabilities.
The Mylo name is short for "my life online" and the small handheld device lives up to its name by offering text messaging, Web surfing, and e-mail capabilities. It also gives users the ability to listen to music and view photos simultaneously.
Roughly the size of the Sony PSP, the Mylo has a 2.4-inch color LCD with a slide out Qwerty-style keyboard for typing. It's offered in black or white and comes loaded with Google, Skype, and Yahoo IM software, eliminating the need for computer setup or a monthly service contract. The Mylo also comes with a JiWire hotspot directory that makes it easy to locate the 20,000+ Wi-Fi networks in the U.S.
