Help for a total psp nub

Hi.

I recently aquired a psp for my girlfriend. Picked it up second hand. It has been running absolutely fine for a few months now until we bought a few new games for it which couldnt be run (error 80020148). I then downloaded an update from the sony website onto the memory stick but that didnt work either (error dadadada).

I then had a good look around and discovered the hombrew scene and realised that the psp does indeed have custom firmware on it. So the system software is 3.03 OE-C. My question is how can I upgrade (or downgrade) to a version which will allow me to run the games? If there is no help out there to help me resolve this issue then is there a good noobie guide to the whole process.

Thanks for any replies.

ps. If you need anymore information then please post how I should find out the information as well as the information required.

You actually provided a good amount of information! Thanks for doing your research!
I don't know how to get to the newest version, but I know you can from where you're at. The newest is 4.01 M33-2.
Someone should post something really soon on how to do it :D

By the way, is it a slim model or the original model?

It's original! the slim starts at 3.60. Go to dark-alex.org and download the cfw updates. You need to start with 3.40 OE then you can move to 3.52 M33-4 then you can go to 3.71 M33 or higher.
