quick question on .ISO

i remember using ISO's as image disc for burning to a CD-ROM (backup purposes), but i havent done that in 2 years and not sure how similar this process is on the PSP.
so an ISO can be transferred to a memory stick, so it would be ~700 mb no compression or conversion??

do the ISO ripper programs work on a mac > powerpc - not x86. im hitting myself over the head with the incompatibility of crap with it =, like a downloader that works with rapidshare and other crap meh. but need it for photography.
