Confused Noob

I just got a Phat PSP 2 days ago and want to be able to download games!!
I have researched and still need help. I have version 2.60, although I saw
where it said 1.52 upgraded to 2.60?? I just need to know what to do to
downgrade to 1.50 (if thats what i need to do) and then what custom firmware
to download? Any help is appreciated, thx!
