LCD problem help!!

hey guys, i'm having a problem with my lcd. i dont kno exactly how to describe the problem. But its like, whenever anything is in motion, the screen leaves a shadow of the image for a second or two.like when my character moves to the right very quickly, you can still see where he was originally for a few seconds. does anyone know what this problem is called? or even more important, how to fix it? please help! thanks alot in advance

What game are you experiencing this problem on?

The PSP's LCD screen doesn't have a top-of-the-line refresh rate. That may cause some images to show hints of screen-lag, or "ghosting". What you are experiencing is most likely normal. If it is truly one or two seconds behind... then that's a problem. I don't honestly know the refresh rate off of the top of my head for the screen, but it is most likely somewhere between 5ms-15ms, and I'm going to have to guess that the real response time is 8ms (milliseconds).

yea im pretty sure its not a refresh rate problem. its more like, the liquid in the lcd are frozen in place. It happens especially when something dark is in a light background. you can see traces of that dark object for 1-2 seconds after the object moves.

Is this something that happens in all of your games, or just some of them?
Are you running your games from a umd or from iso/cso?
If iso/cso, how big are the files?

it happens on all the games. I run games both from ISO and UMD. The most noticeable is when im playing tekken Dark resurrection from the umd, the characters leave huge shadows when there is a blue or bright pink background.

Sounds to me like there is a flaw with the refresh rate of your LCD screen. If you just bought your PSP you should consider a return.

Yeah, i would suggest exchanging it if possible.

You might also want to check your cpu speed in recovery mode... i think 333mhz is the fastest (been a while since i've picked up my psp)

333Mhz is the fastest but I do not think it will help with this problem. I think there is something physically wrong with the display if it is behaving the way I imagine it. If a return is not possible perhaps replacing the display all together might help. An online search might provide some parts dealers. I would recommend one but I have not had to use any yet.

do u guys know the technical term for this sort of problem? im thinking of trying to find any info on lcd screens and see why its behaving the way it is. cuz it didnt do this the first few weeks i got it. I wanna see if theres any way to fix this without getting a new lcd screen. they're quite pricey from what i've seen, and i've just bought this psp a while ago. return isnt possible tho cuz its through ebay.

A lot of people refer to this problem as ghosting. So you may want to use that as a keyword for your searches, other than that i cant say that i know of the exact technical term for it.

New screens are only about $30 - $40 man.
