Eboot problems (newb)

hi, i just got a new PSP slim and i downloaded an Eboot file of an old PSX game, the problem is... in the description of the download, it doesnt even have any instructions of what to do. I do however know one thing, that there a LOT of different type of custom firmware's right? so, which one do i need to run this? Oh, and its a multi-disc eboot, so i need to know what to do once i get on the second disc of the game, and...i want it to run flawlessly from the PSX version.

Stick it in the GAME folder. But first you need to install custom firmware, doesn't really matter which one. Most of them that you will find today can play psx eboots pretty fine. People say some have better psx playback than others, but if I were you I would just update to the newest custom firmware (4.01M33-2), and try it out. If you have any problems then you can try a different custom firmware. As for popsloader I'm not sure of the details but that's what runs multidisc eboots. It's built into the newest custom firmware as well as others. Someone else can give more insight into popsloader though than me.

First you will more than likely need to make a pandora's battery so you can install a custom firmware on your psp. Ironically Sony doesn't want us to play free psx games on our psp's so we had to find a workaround for it. Check the tutorials section for some great pandora batteries tutorials.

allright, first off, whats a Pandora's Battery, second, when i go to actually put the FW onto the PSP, do i which files do i put in, and where do i put them???? Its locked into WinRAR, which files do i need??? there are so many, do i just copy and paste the entire thing?

I've seen people running this exact game that i want to play on my PSP (youtube). i thought all i had to worry about was the CW, and popsloader, now THIS? ugh...christ..

Ugh because why would sony allow you to run unsigned code on your psp? You can't just make a program and run it on your stock psp, else the gaming industry would just die and there wouldn't be one. That's why you use a pandora's battery to install a custom firmware on your psp. It's like the original sony firmware, except it has been edited to run unsigned code made by the public. The pandora's battery is just a modified battery, similar to the one Sony themselves use to service PSP's sent in under a warranty. But instead of fixing psp's (well we use them to fix them) they are more primarily used to install custom firmware on a PSP. It's not even that hard, everyone does it. Everyone on youtube that you have seen playing the game you want to play, has used it. It's the only way, or you can live without it.

Its not that complicated to downgrade, the tutorial isnt as hard as you think. But you cant just go right to custom firmware from a brand new PSP Slim. You need to downgrade the PSP to 1.5, and then upgrade to a custom firmware.

Yes terd, you can go directly to a custom firmware. Besides, slims can't even have 1.5 on them so that makes no sense what so ever. You used to have to downgrade to 1.5 then upgrade, but not so much now

i just saw a video and apparently all you need is Popstation GUI, and the original copy of the game, which i have.

allright, i have guess i've found the solution, all i have to do now is install that FW, so....which ones do i put in the PSP folder??? Its all locked up in WinRAR, should i just copy and paste the whole thing?

Um no. You need popstation GUI to convert the psx image into an eboot, which the built in psx emulator plays. Works a lot better than using some emulator made by a dev.

And what is the solution you found? Unless you have a phat 3.50 or below, pandora is the only way to go. Download winrar if you want to extract a rar file, it's just like zip but better file compression.

O and stop double posting already, it's against the rules.

i dont see why you need a pandora's battery for putting custom FW on you're PSP....i know quite a few people that have custom FW and they never mentioned/have this Pandora's battery. Putting custom firmware should be like putting on normal FW, except the only difference is that it's custom... can you just please watch this vid, this guy here never mentions this pandora's battery. he just says u need custom FW (idc which one, ill figure it out) and either an Eboot, or to convert a PSX game using Popstation GUI. Is that pandora's battery ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY? Or is there another way of doing this, all i want this custom FW for is for playing PSX games on my PSP, nothing more, if thats what ur concerned about. Second of all, for those people that actually make this custom FW, why wouldnt they think of a way for it to be loaded onto a PSP without that Pandora's Battery...i mean, jeez, i really dont wanna install that into a PSP battery/buy a new one. and solder and all that crap...

Its really not that bad, its pretty easy and yes its the only way to put CFW on a psp slim.

First of all, you don't know nothing about running unsigned code on a game system. Yes it's similar to installing an official firmware, but you still need a way to run unsigned code. You don't know anything about homebrew, so don't say "it should" be like something when in actuality it isn't. That video is only about running psx games on a psp, it says you need custom firmware but it doesn't tell you how to acquire it. Our tutorials section is much more "advanced" than some youtube video.

And the guys that made the custom firmware is the guy that set the foundation for the entire homebrew community, so you should probably show some appreciation. If you have any better way of installing a custom firmware then I'm all ears. You can't run unsigned code on a psp without certain...methods. This was only possible in 1.0 and 1.5 firmwares, then sony patched it so we couldn't. No matter how much you whine won't change what I have told you. Unless you have official firmware 3.50 or below, making a pandora's battery is the only way. It doesn't matter where you go, or what you ask, the answer is going to be the same. It's extremely simple.
