No recovery menu on 3.52 M33-4???

So I just semi bricked my PSP trying to use that crappy JoySens application (dont worry, I fixed it), but I was shocked to learn that apparently 3.52 M33 doesn't have a recovery menu. That is unless I'm not doing something right (I held the R button as the PSP booted up). So what gives? Is there something I don't know about or does M33 REALLY not have a recovery menu? And if it does, how does one access it? Thanks!

I actually found out that it DOES have a menu, but for some reason, it won't run when the thing is bricked. I had to pop out my memory stick, turn on the PSP, then put the stick back and delete the offending plugin.
