i have umd disc in it already...but im not sure about the no-umd thing in recovery mode...not even sure about what the recovery mode is

in devhook0.44 i have a couple options
one of the option is UMD MOUNT. and it had the sub-options:

ISO NOUMD(1.50only)
ISO ANYUMD
UMD DISC

i always choose the ISO ANYUMD cause beside other things, thats what they told me to do when i wanna play a game and it worked just fine with any game til now

i never messed around with psp much so i dont understand much
if you could help more id appreciate

OK. What firmware do you need in order to play the game?

Open the iso with a program called UMDGEN. There should be an item somewhere that'll show it. You can change it by clicking on the firmware number needed and pressing the + or - button until desired firmware is selected. Then just save the iso.

EDIT-ok i found out that the firmware it needs is 3.03 but it just shows it as text on a non clickable spot...i dont wanna do something that could mess up the iso file...and im not good with psp coding or psp file extentions
can you be more specific pls if you know the program?

EDIT-ok i figured out that i need to edit that in file PARAM.SFO in PSP_GAME folder inside the ISO file.
but how? when i right-click and goto sector viewer it shows hex...and im not familiar with hex
could someone help me out a bit more? or even tell me if im in the right direction or not

You in the right direction. If I recall there should be two places that show it. And it won't let you type any number's if I recall you have to use the plus and minus buttons. + , - . I will look in a second for you if no one else's answers.

O and next time please don't double post. Just use the edit button.

Ok figured it out. Download UMDGEN v4.0(at least that's the one I'm using.) and open your iso. Then click on the UMD Properties tab close to the top beside the Layout tab. Under PARAM.SFO Information window there should be a thing that says PSP_SYSTEM_VER and a number beside of it. Just highlight the number and use your plus and minus buttons to adjust it to your liking. O and its in the window that says PSP_GAME/PARAM.SFO . And I think that's all there is to it. Someone correct me if I am wrong. But theoretically that is how ti is done. I haven't tried it personally so yea. Don't hold me to it.

Well to answer your question...there isnt a universal firmware thats capable of running every single game that sony will ever release. The most recent custom firmware is 3.40 oe-a and that should be able to run about 99% of the games that have been released to date. As newer games are released they require newer firmware. I hope that answers everything for you.

I never liked devhook. My suggestion (strongly reccomended) is to downgrade to 1.5, and upgrade to a custom firmware.

Re: Just downloaded a game - How to make it work??

DeusXM wrote:I recently downloaded Suikoden II. It's a rar-file containing two files, EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN.

My PSP used to be 2.00, but a got a downgrader from this site, and downgraded it to 1.5.

I have tried creating a folder, PSP/GAME/Suikoden 2, and placing the files there. Then when I turn on my PSP and go to game, the walpaper changes to Suikoden II, just like it should, but when I try to run the game, I get the message "The game cannot be started. The data is corrupted"

What shall I do to fix this problem? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

thats wheat happened to me when i tried to install win95
