I know you may love Vista... But if you look in "Certain Areas" you can find a full fledged copy of Windows 7 which is well wroth it. Vista didnt have any problems if you knew what you were doing..But windows 7 adds to it.

To answer your question tho.. Download or buy a copy of Vista (or win 7).

If you download, youl also need an ISO burner to burn in to the disk. put it in your system, then bott up The laptop. While its booting up press the F10 (thats my dell..yours may vary) and it will show up where to boot from. Say CD/DVD and it will show the installation screen.

Of course though, downloading and ISO burning will needed to be done on another computer.

Install a new HDD is what I would do. DPM may be able to give you a better answer

its mpt necissarily the HDD, talthough that is a very high possibility, it very well could be a dodgy sata/ide controller (dependimg what conenction you have for you hdd). If thats the case you may need a new hdd or there may be no hdd installed in the back of the machine. To check just urn the machine over and on the back there should be some plates that you can remove by undoing some screws open them up until you find where the HDD goes. If teh hdd is dead just go to a computer shop and ask for either a ide or sats drive depening what you laptop takes.

Laptop drives are cheap enough, you might as well try popping in a new hard drive and seeing if it works. Even if you just get a friends hard drive, it doesn't necessarily have to boot to the os, as long as it recognizes that a drive is plugged in.

If need be, you could also go for a thumb drive Linux distribution to get your computer to boot and go from there. First step is checking if it's your drive or your pc tho.

Hey I am using a live CD of PClinux right now but Idk how to connect to the internet using that. But if I can then I can hook up my external HD and maybe that would do something? I need some further assistance. What do I do next?

You need to know the make and model of these cards and google search drivers for them. Download and install.
