Best custom firmware is 3.9 m33-2.
Unfortunately, no use of 1.5 kernal mode.
In the future, distant future, they will come out with something to make 1.50 games work...

what about that time machine, would that do the trick? or no?

I think the lowest a slim can be downgraded to is 3.60, right?

Yea, the time machine is suppose to enable you to play 1.50 homebrew. But new homebrew uses the 3.xx kernel.

I have vba installed on my uber-boxen, and love it to death.

PSP slims cannot use 1.5 kernal mode. So using this method will only grant you access to use a few games.
