What should I upgrade to to play new games?

Hello guys, remember me?

I'd like to get the scoop on the new firmware emulators for playing the new games. I am still on a 1.50 fw PSP (not slim), and I am still using DevHook v0.46 and still shrink my ISOs with PSP ISO Compressor v1.1.

Please let me know what I must do. Thanks in advance.

Okay I just upgraded my 1.50 to PSP 3.51 M33 Custom Firmware. So what do I need now to run ISOs, CSOs, or DAXs, and also NES emulators? A bit lost here..

Haha thats some old stuff. Well I'd refer 3.52 M33-4 it is just right. For emulators..

NES- NesterJ 1.70?
GBA- gpSP 9
N64- Daedalus 13

At 3.52 M33-4 you can run about any game I guess, not sure of any games that you can't play. You can run ISOs and CSOs easily by just sticking them in the ISO folder. You can also do some customizing with themes and XMB sounds and stuff on this cfw too.

Oh and just stick the emulators in the 'GAME150' folder.

Thanks for the very informative reply. I just updated it to 3.52 M33-4.

Thanks for the extra information about where to install the emu's. I was wondering what was the purpose of the GAME150 folder.

With ISOs or CSOs, do I still have to install an ISO emulator or will it just run straight from the ISO folder? If not, what do you suggest I should install?

Okay I loaded a CSO game inside the ISO folder in the root of the directory. When I go to the Memory Stick, I see the game icon and hear the music. When I select it, it takes me to the UMD disc that I have loaded, but not to the CSO game I selected. What am I suppose to do?

I got a problem with one CSO Need For Speed Carbon, it seems not want to play, I get an error when I load it up. It used to play just fine with Devhook 0.46, anyone have any suggestions?

you can play gpsp kai 3.2 or something on the slim since it uses the 3.XX kernel.

And you can also change the UMD setting by pressing the 'home' button while in the XMB. You can try another file of the game and see if that works. I think i have heard about problems with that game before or something, try messing with the UMD settings again and see if it works.

Thanks! Yeah, I was able to find the troubleshooting procedure:

Now sometimes, doing upgrades causes bugs, to fix, i recommend everyone who does a upgrade to "delete flash1 and reset settings" from recovery.
-Goto Advanced and select "delete flash1 and reset settings"

Found here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=119276 (under Recovery Menu instructions)
