Farquezy wasn't saying that because of your religion, ace and BKF hate him. No, he was just using the word "hate" loosely. However, he's completely right when he says that religion promotes hatred.

Saying that religion doesn't promote hate is just asinine in itself. Religion has to promote hate in order to convert more people to its cause, and grow as a religion. That's the basis of all religion at its core. Hate the other group so that you become more dedicated to the one you like - more likely to recommend it to your best pal, and more likely for the cycle to continue and thus make the religion gather more followers.

The Crusades are a great example of hatred and corruption as well as abuse of power. Jihads, both old and new, incite religious hatred towards the group which is trying to nullify them (or in which they FEEL they are being nullified). But there's far more than those obvious and outright wrong religious beliefs if you're trying to prove that religion promotes hatred.

What about anti-clericalism and people wanting to separate themselves from their faith but their religious prospects trying not to let them? That only led to religious scrutiny and there was definitely hate on both sides of the issue, all around the world.

What about Jehova's Witnesses? I wont' even go into all of the details about them... they've been interrogated, demonized, and made enemies of the public by the corruption and hatred of religion interfering with politics, just another avenue of hatred which is so incredibly devout and detailed that I'd never be able to hit all the points against it.

What about Jewish people? Geez... what about the Jewish people. Their religious history is even more corrupt than that of the Jehova's Witnesses. For crying out loud... don't even begin to say that religion doesn't promote hatred. If you read the Quran, you'd read that after every single battle that the Muslims had with the Medinans, Muhammad blamed the Jews for being treacherous even though Jews and Muslims were under treaty. Again, there are so many examples of hatred being promoted in religion, especially regarding the Jews, that I won't even begin to talk about Jews in the Soviet Union/ Russia, the British Mandate on Palestine, or anything relating to the holocaust in Europe... just simply because I won't be graded or paid for my writings.

But what about African religions? Are there not hundreds of wars documented between different religious constructs in Africa's history? Are there not some of the best examples of genocide, fascism, intolerance, violence, segregation, and terrorism involved within those conflicts? Are those religious wars not because of religion? You'd be wrong to think religion doesn't play a key role in these wars.

I can go on for days, weeks, months, and years about how religion promotes hatred, and I'll gladly do so if people aren't able to understand just exactly how.

I believe Christianity is not corrupt....the people who follow it makes it corrupt. The Human Element is the element that can change anything. Jesus never promoted hatred. Hatred was acted upon him (his death...by people)

Doesn't that prove that everything Jesus lived for, and died for, weren't really justified causes to begin with? Doesn't that show that Christianity isn't a sound religion if the person in which the religion was founded upon died because of his beliefs? What if his beliefs were so radical and so extreme that the people around him couldn't stand to live in a world full of lies such as the ones he was promoting and killed him because of it? That sounds a lot more accurate than some goon who wrote a book about him made it out to be. What goon could that be, you ask? Nobody knows... and nobody probably ever will. But if mankind DOES find out more about who exactly authored the original texts of the Bible, I'm sure that the whole world would realize that Christianity was based off of a fictitious novel that was able to be known by a wide variety of people and only caught on because of its "cult classic" appeal.

Hmmm... now that seems more correct... associating religion with a cult, that is.

Nah, I don't agree with none of that. As for any other religions, I don't know, but I don't think Christianity promotes hate. I mean really, obviously you hate religion, so hate can't be caused by religion, or at least Christianity. I don't know, and don't care about the crusades. But if they fought for what they believe then I think thats pretty admirable. But I don't see how religion is the only root of evil. Everything can be considered a root of evil. But I'm a Christian, and I don't hate other religions so thats all that matters to me, I mean the bible doesn't promote hate. It says hate is a sin. I think its just all human nature, and also human nature to blame things on other things we don't like. For example, you don't like religion so you will blame hate on religion. Maybe I don't like McDonalds so I blame obesity on McDonalds. But thats my 30 cents. Believe what you want.

hm but to deny human nature? i think thats the biggest sin out there. why should i deny what makes me human? why should i care whom i date or marry/ why should i marry at all other the tax breaks? why cant two gays or lesbians love each other? why is that wrong? i mean the worst possible punishment is hell. an eternity of torture and despair in burning flame. i mean thats just screwed up.

hello god? yes i loved another man. no i am not sorry i did god. what? hell? but i did not kill anyone, i did not steal anything why must i go?

thats just the freakiest thing ever. and i can see why there are gay and lesbian "reprogramming" camps. and why so many people kill themselves thinking they are EVIL. its because OVER punishment and FEAR scare us into religion

christianity falls apart when you remove fear, the whole scheme just becomes pointless. i like the karma instead. the punishment always fits the crime

Well God has said that there shouldnt be gays or lesbians.

It was Adam and Eve NOT Adam and Steve iv always said. God says that is false love. I am a Baptist Christian....I believe if you are saved then you are always saved. Not saying if you go out and kill a man u wont be punished...but you wont lose your salvation.

Well I mean a sin is a sin. At least according to the bible, it doesn't work on a gradient level (if I'm using that in the right context). If you sin then it's a sin, doesn't matter what it is. I was just commenting on many of the different opinions saying that religion is the root of hate. I'd rather think of human nature more of what "the devil" persuades us to believe. I dunno know why God made it this way, but thats the way it is. So what if you didn't kill anyone, you still sinned and didn't repent. I mean none of us know how hell feel, and I don't plan to. You don't know for sure that hell is the worst punishment possible. I mean, didn't God partially make hell so that we wouldn't have to spend eternity beside him knowing you spent your life denying everything he meant there to be? I don't care who you are, you don't know which would be worse because you haven't experienced it. I mean hes not forcing you into anything, we all have free will. You are just as scared into religion just as much as you are scared into the punishment for your karma system. Just like karma, there are repercussions for your actions. You just get less of a punishment. So basically its just the same, except Gods way is a more simple system. You do something wrong without repenting then you go to hell, do something wrong and truly repent then you go to heaven. Can't get more simple then that, don't matter what system it is you are scared into doing the right thing. So whats the difference? There I added another quarter into the money machine.

And I was thinking, what me and hopefully bkf believe wouldn't really be called a religion. I don't know the details, but I believe more of a very simple philosophy. You should have a personal relationship with God, and pretty much the basics. Don't sin, if you do then repent since you know its wrong. Repent for real, and you go to heaven. That easy. I like that better then a complex karma system, to much to deal with. There all still fear powered though when you get down to the nitty gritty.

Ah, we actually talked about that bkf in sunday school today :p Like once saved, always saved. I believe that too, and my pastor pointed out a good point. If you were truly saved then you wouldn't have committed that sin in the first place. Or at least habitual sin. I like baptist better, seems to just follow the bible, take it literally.

A thing i disagree with that i heard from some guy a few days ago was that u have to be baptized to go to Heaven. I dont think so. I mean say you got saved (and u were at church) and now your driving home. A huge truck comes by and kills u instantly. I believe u will go to heaven still. To me, Baptizism is a way to show everyone what is going on in ur heart (salvation).

So in my opinion, religion is the Root of All Evil (which is a EXCELLENT documentary btw).

And it kind of promotes hatred with Crusades and Jihads, which where not included in the first bibles ever made, but are included in the current ones if im not wrong

Snap, those aren't Christians lol. No where on the Bible does it say to harrass non christians and pull the demons out of them.

And I repeat myself, no where in the Bible does it promote hatred.

True Christians, the true Christians that I know do not hate other religions, you are getting 'TRUE' and 'FAKE' Christians mixed up. It is not religion that is messed up, it is the blind person that holds it.

Oh and I never said religion doesn't promote hatred, just the Bible and Jesus doesn't. Just to clear that up.

He died because he washed our sins away. I'm sorry that some people happen to see the bad side of religion, well I don't know what kind of experiences you have had with Christians, or not Christians, but other religious groups, but we do know who wrote the Bible. You do believe that Jesus existed right? And he isn't just some fictious character?

It's weird, to me everything is so clear. There are several several signs to show the coming and the end. I mean sit down with a true Christian, one that doesn't yell at you. Give them respect and allow them to show you the events in the Bible that are stated to happen in the end.

I have no idea where to start with all of these things, theres so many.

i only have two questions.

why does god let evil exist?
He can breath out stars, make universes with a snap of his finger, destroy the world just by saying it.

but he just cant defeat the devil, i find that amazing......
lol a good that can't beat his enemy...

and second, god knows everyones faith, he knows what you do before you do it, he knows when you are born and when you die.
So if he knows your faith, then he would know i would be a non believe and go to hell.
so why does he let me be born.
he knows im going to hell, than whats the point of letting me born? to go to hell? and DONT even say that it never says in the bible god knows your faith and what you do before you do it. I have heard it form my preacher when i was a christain, and i've seen it in the bible.

I've seen you say a lot of things that your preacher says, they don't sound very Godly. But I don't know what the answer is to the 2nd question I'll think about it :D.

The 1st question, he isn't trying to beat/destroy evil, he is allowing people to make up their mind whether to follow him and believe in his word. In the end of time, those who failed to listen to his word will go to hell. I mean you have like at least 80 years to make up your mind, if you don't make the right choice then sucks for you, you can't blame anyone if you never made the right choice, you have plenty of time and opportunities to.

Yea, so he isn't tryin to destroy all the evil and wickedness. It is specifically stated that the end of time will result in the banishment of the devil.

Well the time line is tricky ill try to explain this.

What we are in now is referred to as the 'Church Age' It is the age to become right with God before he comes, this age has been around for 2008 years.

The next event in the time line is the rapture, where you will be rewarded in your perseverance and beliefs.

The next part is the Tribulation which is broken up into 2 parts of 3.5 years each. The first part is suppose to be peaceful and happiness.
The Antichrist will come to the world with sweet promises and peace and all that and he will rise in power diplomatically. Soon the One World Government will be set in, of coarse this isn't likely to happen in the state the world is in now but..

The World World Government is possible to come into power because a very devastating World War, nuclear attack, or some kind of tragic accident. Severe droughts, famine, something will cause people to panic and in search for help. The One World Government and the Antichrist will promise you food, supplies, shelter and it will sound so good so this power will happen, the world will be looking for a savior and they think they have found one. If you look at the guidelines and doctrines or w/e about the One World Government system then you will clearly see it is just a ring of power, the only people that will be able to get into power and voted into positions are the people the government wants to be in office. Anyways, the Antichrist will work his way up to the President person of the government, he will have all the power, there will be no stopping the One World Government once it is established.

Back on track: the second part of the tribulation is the end of the world. The Antichrist will let all hell loose and he will rule dictatorially. He/the UN promises world peace early in their rule, so they make a deal with Israel promising peace. This midway in the tribulation, the Antichrist breaks the peace. In the Bible it states all nations will attack Israel and there will be a 200 million man army that attacks Israel. I'm guessing thats when God comes and its Armageddon and he protects his people. It's vague because you do not know exactly when each event takes place but that is a rough example. Take note, this might not be the exact set of events, its just a rough guess.

And know I have no idea why I brought all that up.

to farq: most people believe there is PURPOSE to evil thats why god lets it exist.

and NO karma is not about FEAR. its about balance. you reap what you sew so to speak. you dont burn in eternal torture and hell fire. thats not punishment fitting the crime. i dont even think thieves should get there hands cut off. its EXTREME far too EXTREME. god is intolerant if he exists.

and blindly following the teachings of the intolerant is IGNORANT. id RATHER burn in eternal hell fire than sacrifice my own ability to think and change. its FORCED on you. these beliefs were written by fascists who hated gays and thought women should stay in there place. the message of the bible is lost in contradiction and years and years of history being written by the WINNERS. religion is a TOOL by those with power to control, and gain popularity. it is a tool of FEAR in a world full of those who are AFRAID. the only reason id EVER believe in GOD is because its a better BET. if i walk and follow daddy's orders like a good boy then if by chance there IS ACTUALLY a heaven then im less likely to burn in hell and if there isnt well then alls well that ends well.

good boy + heaven = win
good boy + no heaven = whatever
bad boy + heaven = BAD
bad boy + no heaven = whatever

(bad boy being a sinner. not a BAD person)

see? better bet. but thats not faith and im one for taking chances in my life. MY life. NO ONE ELSE'S. and at least i can say that my LIFE was MY OWN

How do you say God is intolerant? Look at all these gangs, sexual offenders, murderers. Thats pretty tolerant to me to have that in this world.

EDIT: I too believe karma.. definitely.
