Recovery Console and Backup UMDs?

Go to Recovery Console? how do i do this? ive been reading and everyone says to power down, then turn on while holding the "R" button. Done that and nothing happens differently.
Im currently running CFW 3.90 m33 on a phat psp, shouldnt i still be able to do this? my goal is to backup my UMD discs and i found a nice method. The USB-SSS method shown here doesnt seem to want to work for me because one of the downloads wont work, i hate megaupload (ill try this method again if anyone can give me UMDGen V4 that is required.

to make an iso I'd say just use Filer 4.9 (Search for it in the download section)

For the Recovery take the battery out and put it back in then while you turn it on press and hold R.

If you don't have the 1.50 kernel get it from http://dark-alex.org

When you are in the XMB, press the 'home' button and a menu appears. Change the USB device to 'UMD Disc'. Then enter USB mode and the ISO will appear instead of your Memory Stick, so just copy the ISO over.

It allows you to use homebrew under the 1.50 Kernel instead of the 3.90 Kernel.

Most games require 150k and the answer is yes you do need it.

Lastly, the button is Select not Home

3.71 and higher use the select button for VSH. 3.52 and lower I guess they use home.
This is a sig. You may think that there is something to it, but in fact it is just an ordinary sig.

I guess 3.52 M33-4 is the only one that uses the home since it is the lowest M33. Well 3.60 M33 might use home.
