um agnoticsism and atheism are different...

im not being a do*che or anything but wat is the difference( strictly curios not sarcastic)?

In MY opinion, not a fact, not stereotyping, they are more open minded.
But i dont know what Alistor is trying to say

The American Heritage Dictionary defines an "atheist" as "one who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods." An "agnostic" is "one who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God" or "one who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism."

I guess I'm agnostic, as I know something made the universe began, but as humans, how would we have a clue who God is and how he wants you to be?

I have done a lot of studying on this topic but will admit I am no expert. I do know a few things:

#1 Some people need god in their lives. If there was no "god"presence they would be all around miserable people.

#2 I realized the 3 top religions on the planet can trace their roots to Egypt and eventually ancient Sumeria so if you were looking for the origins of god I suggest researching that.

#3 All of the global religions that I know of that ever existed basically have the same philosophy and that is to be civil caring and respectful to others.

No one can say for sure the exact origin of all surviving religious txts (except the book of Mormon). I believe that you can find truth only by researching and studying all of them.

yah a really good friend of mine said this to me when i asked him why he believes in god, i think he is agnostic but whatever, he says: "I want to believe Skyler(his cousin who he was extremely good friends with) is in a better place now"
Its really sad that his cousin was killed by a drunk driver, but i find it weird thats his reasoning. He has not religion but believes in god, which im totally fine with since he doesnt have a set of rules he has to follow

i very much agree with u, another thing all the top religons have is a character within their religon that has human characteristics, ppl like to have a religon in which they can identify with a prophet or savior. think about how greek religon had so many characters with human qualities and problems... ppl where able to identify with there gods and thats why the religon lasted so long and was so possible.

You forgot to mention how useful it is in controlling a population and that is unfortunately a common use these days. Example: Taliban.

The two are only linked because of their similarities, not because I'm a f**k who doesn't know what he's talking about. Atheists believe that God/ Gods aren't real, never were, never will be, and are incalculably impossible. An Agnostic is one who believes no single theory about a God or Gods, or creationism or evolution, and simply decides to remain neutral.

What people fail to realize, is that you can be Atheist by believing that there is no true God or deity responsible for life just the same as an Agnostic can remain Agnostic. It's entirely possible that the primary reason you believe that it is impossible for a God or deity to exist is because you simply remain neutral because you feel no one belief structure is truly omniscient of any other.

I linked them, as they ought to be, just as I would have linked Lutheranism, Baptism, or Catholicism to Christianity, but because of space constraints, did not.

On a more prevalent note, can I please get a Christian or otherwise scholarly advocate of religion to help prove that the words coming out of this intelligent and independently-thinking man's mouth are false and/ or not genuine questions or concerns about religious faith of any kind? I'm terribly interested in any possible conclusions that can be drawn in the sake of religion's favor, as a whole.

I clicked that link hoping it would be text based, but it's just a youtube link. Some guy saying God isn't real, and you know he isn't. At least that's what the title said, but as I don't have 20 minutes to watch it right now I won't. I fast forwarded it a few minutes to see about 20 seconds, and one part I believe he basically said God isn't real because he wouldn't punish people for doing wrong things, and that a pair of every animal at that time wouldn't fit on a boat, even though he didn't say that, he just skipped to saying religion is only around because of it's values, and that it has evolved or something. That's all I saw.
