Yeah I had a feeling I didn't need it...I'll be doing it on my own slim. I think I have the noob install thing already.

No prob, PSP Homebrewing is hideously complex anyways. I wish it was like homebrewing on a DS is, it was idiot proof.

I'm having a big problem. I tried getting this thing running. I connected my PSP through USB, followed the easy noob install exactly. Then I have the memory card in, and put in the battery. It powers on but I don;t get the options that guy gets in the video, it stays black. I tried swapping back the regular battery. The folders created on the MS suggest that the magic stick part worked. Have I done something wrong? have I not installed custom firmware onto the card succesfully or something? I have checked the system details and it says its still 3.73 regular FW

This might be a clue? A m33_360_Install_log states that

Install Initialisation...OK

Reading IPL...OK

verifying ipl...Failed -> not the expected IPL.

You seem to be using a 3.60 installer on 3.73. Try getting the 3.90 installer.

But I don't have a CFW PSP to use it with. I was told there were methods for Slim owners to get homebrew running without another PSP if they bought a Datel Tool Battery.

You don't need a CFW PSP those are the windows installers.

And both work on vista

You were right, I did need the Cementrio. Sorry I was an donkey earlier.

I think it has worked. The system information says I am now on a M33 firware, and I have additional files under 'GAME' in the interface, such as time machine and pandora battery maker. But I also have two corrupted files in the same section. One is 44kb and one is 42 MB I had a look at the stick and the folder that is 42 MB contains two 21 MB PBP files, one called 340 and one called 350. And a file called eboot which is 208 KB. What are these and can I move them? Also, a few more questions.

1) I downloaded papaton. It is a 215MB CSO file. Do I have to convert it to something else, or am I just putting it in the wrong folder on the stick? Because the PSP can't find it.

2) How now do I install homebrew programs like PS1 emulators? Is there a general guide on this site as to how to play PS1 games on a PSP? Which one is the best PS1 Emulator for PSP and the best one for PC's (XP)?

3) Can I rip PS1 games I already own? Which program would do that and which format would I need to burn to?

First up, if you aren't at 3.90M33 I suggest you upgrade to it. Download the installer from here Http://dark-alex.org
You also need the official sony 3.90 eboot which can be found on this site.

Put the Patapon CSO in the ISO folder at the base of your memory stick.(ms0://ISO/ {On your computer instead of ms0:// It might be E:// or F:// or some letter of the alphabet})

You use Popstation to convert PS1 ISOs into eboots so you dont need to obtain an emulator, and you can use Pops to make an Eboot from the CD.

EBOOTs are the file types that the PSP will realize as an executeable file(Simular to How windows uses .EXE files, just it has to be EBOOT.PBP or EBOOT.BIN)
They run from the game folder :)

Do I need to back-up stuff before I go up to 3.90? Or is it not a big deal? Could I just go straight to the 3.90 M33 Update 2. or do I need 3.90 M33 first?

The official sony site only seems to have 3.95 Anyone have a link to 3.90?

You can find the 3.90 EBOOT on this site.

And yeah, its not that big of a deal.

Obtain the 3.90 EBOOT, Rename it to 390.PBP, Put it in the root of your memory stick and run the Creator with the charger in, when the creator finishes run the installer and let it finish.

You can go straight to update 2 BTW

EDIT: There isn't a copy of 3.90 M33 here use this link http://psp-hacks.com/file/1406

The Creator is the first step right? The pandora battery bit? Or is it the cementrio bit?
