How can i open videos/homebrew with an external hdd?

So, I'm going on a vacation soon, and thought i'll watch some movies and play games on my psp if the weather changed or something

Problem is, i don't have a laptop. But I do have an external HDD, but the USB on the psp isn't the same as the one from my hdd (you know, different types, the psp one being smaller).
Can I use a USB hub and have a cable from both my HDD and the psp going into it? I have IRShell, so i think it's possible to locate the dictionary, but im not sure.. If someone can post what I'll need, it would be of great help!
I'm leaving in two days by the way!

The way to do that would be to connect your hard drive directly to your PSP, and use USBHostfs.

My harddrive doesnt have a normal usb-input (or whatever it's called), you need a special one. So using the USB-line i would use to connect it to my computer, wouldn't work!

Take a Knife and cut the USB cables for your HDD and your PSP.

Remove some of the rubber shell, and strip the power, and data wires on both sides.

Connect Red to Red, White to White, Green to Green, and Black to Black.

Take some tape and seal them up.

Connect them.

Any questions?

But, It'd be better, and probably safer if you just waited for your laptop...

What kind of hub is it? You can always either buy an adapter or do what roxfox said, but I'm guessing you'd probably want to buy some extra cables first. I'm pretty sure though that they would make a like a to mini a adapter, not sure though. And he just said he didn't have a laptop, maybe you should've read his post ;) He is looking for a way to store a large amount of files and play them using his psp (ie, connect a hdd to his psp using the usb plug).

Well, being someone who doesn't have a laptop or other PC, I should know about this stuff.

I just thought he meant not near him.
