why can't i get my psp connected with a usb cord?!?!?!?!?!??

everytime i try to connect the psp to my comp through my usb port it always says unkown device and wont let me do anything else. i googled it and found out a lot of people have this problem. but all i got from it was to make sure i was in usb mode with the psp before i connected, but that's what i did in the first place so it didn't help at all. somebody please help me i wanna no how to get my pc to recognize the psp (my comp is brand new by the way i just got it for christmas so i know its not that) thanks

ok what usb cord u using? the pelican one? because if it is i had the same prob, and it wasnt the comp or psp so if thats the cord u have get urself a $10 one is worth it.

the pelican usb cord it the one with the usb charger and cord, i had the same prob as well as my friend and we both had the same one

actually to be honest i don't even know what brand, i bought it off of ebay and it was out of the package, i just got the cord alone, it's not the pelican one though. so you think if i buy a better cord it will work? i don't mind spending the money i just want to make sure its not gonna do the same thing. and which cord do you recommend?

well b4 u buy a new one format ur stick if u dont mind and try that, the next step is plug it into a diff usb port if that dont work, buy a new cord around $10 and if the new cord dont work after pluging it in to diff usb ports then its ur psp.

nemesis thanks a lot man i went out and bought a new usb cord by datel, and it works great. it was 14.99 at best buy and came with a media manager software disc, i dont think the disc is really neccessary but all i care is that it works.... so yea you were right you def get what you pay for.

yea i bought the pelican for 4something and it stoped working after like 3months
